Reasons I Should Get An Evic???

Okay, so I say a video on the joyetech Evic and it appealed to my geek side with all the different displays, functions, and useage of firmware to update it. But the most important question (going out to those who actually have and use one is):

1) How well does it perform?

2) What do you like/dislike about it?

3) If you could get your money back, would you but it again?

1) How well does it perform?

This is my first and only mod so I can't compare it to anything else, (had ego types before) but it works well for me, no disappointments. I get much better vapor then on the ego which is to be expected. The menu is easy to use and after a couple of days it's second nature. Battery life is great I can get a 2-3 days of use with out recharging.

2) What do you like/dislike about it?

pros:
I like the display that will show volts, watts, ohms and battery all at the same time.
The battery meter is great, it shows a graphic as well as a percentage of battery life so there's no surprises when it dies.
simple and easy to adjust the voltage/wattage.
USB charger is great, I don't have to get a separate battery charger, plus can still vape when it is charging since pass through.

cons:
only goes upto 5 volts, on my 3 ohm carto I would like to try upping the voltage a bit.
once in a while when I screw on a new tank it shuts off for some reason and I have to 5 click to turn on???


3) If you could get your money back, would you but it again?

yes, I would buy it again. it's the only tube mod that has a USB charger that I know of and I really like this feature.

Ease of use - 3 clicks you are on. No having to look at the menu on the other side to see if you need to click just one more time to set the unit "on" like the Evic.

The Evic has fairly nice construction, but the SVD is 100% better in construction. Very solid construction.

The Evic is light in your hands and is very easy to switch the setting on the settings ring without knowing it. I have changed settings many times without knowing it.

The batteries - The Evic only takes the 18650 battery (unless you special order a smaller tube). The SVD takes everything from the 350 to the 650 with a twist of the tube. Very convenient.

The USB charger? Honestly, this is not needed with the swapping out of batteries. It is a passthrough if you need it to be, but an additional battery only costs $4 for a 18350, so why not???

This unit does not lock your settings, the SVD does. I cannot trust the Evic in my pocket like I can trust the Evic. The fire button is very loose, and hitting it 5 times in my pocket is something that I can see happening very easily.

Get the SVD.

I got the Evic for the same reason as you, as a backup. Would I do it again? No...I just don't like the build of it. When I screw on the bottom, it catches very nice, but as it screws more, it scratches the bottom of the battery so bad....Eventually I will have to get a new battery for fear that it will etch a ring hole right through to the inerds. I just DO NOT like that kind of craftsmanship, period.

I am seriously thinking of getting a provari at this point. You might want to think of that for yourself.

Okay, thanks for the advice. My only issue is funding for a Provari at the moment, maybe if I get the 10 millionth post prize I can.

just to throw it out there the evic is interchangeable with fluid vapor's cyborg top and bottom cap and battery tube which i think is pretty cool

I have never owned an Evic but from what I've read, the vape is good but the build quality is not impressive & some people even mentioned it feeling "cheap" compared to the $40 SVD.

FT has the Evic for $98 and I can't imagine it being cheaper elsewhere. You're more than 1/2 to a Provari at this price point and I strongly suggest going for it if you plan to still be vaping a year from now. If you don't get it, you might still be wondering what the fuss is about to own and vape a Provari. It's a well made APV and you can tell by just holding the thing, skip the middle ground.

I have to say, I thoroughly enjoy my Evic. The vape is great, changing settings is a cinch, but does not happen inadvertently. I absolutelt love the battery meter, and auto sleep mode. Like everything else, its adjustable, so you determine the sleep time, but after a time of non use, it sleeps to save battery. Build quality is not Provari. It is thin, light construction. The only thing I don't like about it is this fact. After a dozen or so falls from my end table (thanks, cat) the top of the head unit popped off. The electronics survived, and it is still vaping well, but I did have to have the motherboard re-soldered after the last fall. If durability is an issue, think twice. However, it is my second favorite of all the mods I've owned, next to the Freight Train E-Pipe. (iTaste, Silver Bullet with kick, Tox Cannon) Hope this helps

Coincidently, I have both the evic and SVD as well but in my case, the evic was not meant as a backup, it was my 1st APV that I thought I could be happy with throughout my vaping journey.

Unfortunately, as much as I wanted it to be, I could no longer stand it's aneamic, lack of power. Felt like driving a sporty looking car with all sorts of features and tech but can hardly accelerate on a slight incline.

I bought the SVD to 'replace' the evic. In terms of power and vape satisfaction, the SVD blows the evic completely with stacked 18350s, even with single 18650 it still out powers the evic substantially.

I'm not trying to knock the evic or promote the SVD. The evic is a very good device if you never ever will vape more than 10watts ever(yes it's rated to 11watts but it does not deliver it,especially when battery less than fully charged).
Before anyone says my evic is a dud/lemon, I did try a friend's as well as a new unit at a B&M shop. All 3 are the new version with the 2 screws at the top,firmware 1.2 and all running fully charged AW IMR 1600 with the same result.

I used to think I'll never need more than 10watts, till I switched to cotton and rebuildables and got to try them on a provari,zmax,vamo, that made me realize what I've been missing all these while. Not even microcoils from 1.1ohms to 2.2ohms(to stay within the 5 volt limit) can help although there are improvements.

If I could get my money back, nope, I will not buy it again.

It performs fairly well. I can't compare it with other VV/VW devices, but I assume the voltage/wattage displayed is accurate. I love the user interface.

Looks like a personal "massage" device. The rocker switch is terrible.

HELL NO! A brand new evic can be found for around $80 shipped.
With $80, I would rather get:

$21 - mechanical mod: Private V2 clone (copper/brass/stainless steel). Fast tech
$15 - Nitecore i2 charger. fast tech
$10 - 2 pack of battery Sony US18650V3. Fast tech
$10 - multimeter. Fast tech, harbor freight, ebay
$5 - V5 RDA 4 hole. Nimbus clone. Fast tech
$6 - Kanthal wire 28ga or 30ga. Ebay temco power industrial
$2 - Wick: cotton yarn, cotton balls, rolled cotton gauze, cotton everything! Local store or your bathroom.

All this is rougly $70. Yes, the RDA and the mech mods are clones. Deal with it. Better than the evic in my opinion.

Performs pretty damn good IMO
2) What do you like/dislike about it?
LOVE the screen.......wish it was telescopic and a little heavier (Can never find a Kir Fanis at a good price) Wish it had a higher amp limit
3) If you could get your money back, would you but it again?
I would buy it again.....Got mine for $60 in the classies. I still finds some use amongst all my mods

Hey, the V-2 satin silver is on sale right now for 149.95 at Provape.com.

It is the same device as the 2.5 except for the exterior...a pretty good value there. Don't forget, you should get a couple of AW IMR batteries with it, too, if you don't already have some. The device takes the 18490s with the standard end cap. The ones I am using with my new Black Satin seem to give me about 5-6 hours of pretty heavy vaping. Might last a moderate vaper 8-10 hours, I vape about 6-8 mils a day.

They have pink ones, too, if you are into that kind of thing, for 135.00, which is a crazy good price.

Everyone in this thread uses a jungle cat avatar....feeling inadequate. I have to agree with pinoyboy. If you have the SVD go with a mech for a back up. Sometimes you feel like a mech, sometimes you don't. They both have advantages and disadvantages. Do you use RBA's or RDA's? I've had some pretty epic builds that ended up being ever so slightly to low in the ohms to fire on my VV/VW stuff. Instead of scrapping it just move it over to the mech. No hassles!

Actually, Lions inhabit savanna type habitats contrary to popular folklore. The jungle is more suited to the punier smaller versions of the cats.
