Ok, am not really a granny, but my technical knowledge is close to being a (stereotypical) one.

Recent news in Europe got me thinking I should get myself some vaping equipment that would be less vulnerable to being unavailable or too expensive. I am completely happy with my old-fashioned ego twist and kanger t2 clearomizers. Besides these t2, I only tried protank II, which did not work for me (airy draw, cold vapor and burned taste). As far as "rebuilding" is concerned, I can change a wick, and that's it. There is so much information available, especially on this forum, that I would not be scared to learn to rebuild challenging hardware systems. But I don't want to, for several reasons, one being lack of tools (don't even own a screwdriver) and shortage of time.

Basically what I want is a fairly simple tank (not a dripper) that does not require constant tweeking. My ideal atomizer would be upper coil, no airy draw, not enormous nor heavy. Very importantly: durable and reliable. I don't care for taste, as I mostly vape unflavoured. Also vapor production is not very important. Throat hit is a little more important because I am going towards low nic juices (even with my current clearomizers, 3-mg nicotine juice is fine with me).

It is not urgent. I could probably just stock on egos, t2 clearomizers, wick and diy liquids. I would just like to be more independent. In the long term, ordering things is going to get more expensive, if not outright impossible. I did look up several rbas: kayfun looks nice but I read some reviews saying that it tends toward airy draw. Z atty pro hybrid is very expensive, cyclon is a bottom feeder, magoo is a clone, aga t3 maybe would be ok, for smok I read it leaks a lot, igo-w maybe ... and so on.

Any thoughts? Thank you for reading my simple post.

If you have any interest in gennies--the Rsst is the BEST one to start with. You can use the hob to oxidize the mesh, and hardware stores have the other tools--needle nose pliers and precision screwdrivers are especially useful. Multimetres, here in the states anyway, dirt cheep. Learning curve to using a multimetre, but you MUST meter your coils somehow. Ohm checker does this as well, as do some vv/vw mods.

Research Batitude's blog on batteries on this forum. A +++++ for battery safety knowledge.

If you are interested in bottom coil rba tanks, Russian or Kayfun clones cheep. I do not know anything about these, but so many people on here post threads about these toppers.

Igo-L is the easiest rda (dripping atty) imho. And cheep!!

Stock up on the wick of your choice, and WIRE!! Coil winding is not as easy as it looks on the youtube thingy!!

Best of luck on your rebuilding journey. Be safe, and smart, watch all the youtube tutorials, there are so many. You are not the only 'woman of a certain age' rebuilding. I have discovered the joys of 'moderate' sub-ohm vaping whilst in the throes of a hot flash!!

Peace

You could always try something like this NEW SMOKtech Hyper SRT II Spring-Loaded Rebuildable Tank 4.0ml [gv-SMOKtechHyperSRTII] - $19.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

It's basically a rebuildable clearomizer. It won't have the performance that a more advanced RBA like the kayfuns, or genesis style atomizers have, but it seems like what you're looking for. There used to be a few others that were similar to this style, but it seems they've gone out of fashion. With this one you just wrap a coil around silica wick, trap the coil legs under the post washers, and tuck the wick ends into the tank.

Kayfun type (or clone) all the way. I recommend the russian clone from fasttech. (search for 'kayfun' and it'll come up at the bottom of the list.) The new units they're shipping are all ss and getting good reviews. Get some 30 gauge kanthal and dive right in. There's dozens of videos on utube and dozens of threads here on the forums, plus if you have any problems, just post on the forum here and lots of good folks will help you get it sorted in short order.

The only other thing I'd suggest is to take a look at the taifun gs if you want to stick with the ego batteries. You'll want a bigger battery if you go with the kayfun type. Your twist will run it just fine until you can get a bigger unit though.

Take a look at the length of the kfl thread here on the forum, and the dozens of other kayfun threads. There's a good solid reason for that. :vapor:
