Hey all! Just me again, noobing it up!

I've got a Provari v2 that will be here (hopefully) tomorrow and I want to start rebuilding my Nova heads. I had purchase a bunch of LR heads for my eGo-C Twist, but since I have a Provari on the way I feel like I should experiment with higher resistance heads. That being said; Kanthal wire seems to be hard(er) to get than other wiring. Is there any real reason behind it, or is it just such a niche market that is just limited in suppliers?

Also, what do you personally use for your new wicks? I've head of people using all sorts of different stuff, including cotton. My fear with cotton is that I've head it's pretty easy to accidentally burn it. What other materials are (safe? recommended?) to use for wicks?

Thanks a ton guys! Even though I've learned a lot over the past couple months, there still seems to be so much more to learn!

Edit: Is there even a safe alternative to Kanthal Wire? Something that might be easier to obtain?

Hi,
Kanthal (FeCrAl) today on eBay:
kanthal A | eBay
If you don't like Kanthal you can opt for NiChrome.

Resistances for wires can be found here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/atomizer-mods/320042-resistance-wire-kanthal-nichrome.html

You can use Cotton, yes it will burn off if you dry burn or forget to keep wicks wet.
In the vivi I use Crochet Cotton.

Hey Catharlex, I've been using the cotton(1mm. string type) for a couple of weeks now in my rebuildable "stardust" type clearos(2.8ohm) with great success. They are close to the same design as the Vivi's from what I've read, hence my post.

Was a little concerned about burning in the beginning but I've been using it at over 4.5 volts on the Provari and around 8 watts(sweet spot for most vapers and set-ups) using my "kick", without issue.

I'll change the wick out when I dryburn the coil every 4-7 days depending on performance.

Flavour, TH and vaper seem better than original AND no dry hits or burnt taste.YMMV

Cotton is a big win for me but am still gonna be trying the SS mesh very soon.

The amount of information in this thread may be starting to get a bit superfluous, but in the Vaper's Handbook (my blog) I explain about different wicks, what wire gauge to get for what resistance, and there are a couple videos that show how it's done for the Vivi Nova and the Stardust (vision clearomizer). I may end up adding a couple of these other links that were posted just for good measure.
