So I'm curious, did it take anyone else out there a couple wholehearted attempts at getting into rebuilding and dripping for it to "stick"? Or was it instant for everyone? For years I just used cartomizers (not even in tanks), and just last year I started using clearomizers. But I couldn't resist all of the talk and excitement, so a month or 2 ago I got a Magneto, IGO-L, etc. And yes, I did learn how to make perfectly good coils with cotton wicks, but it just didn't... do it for me. I don't know if it was laziness, or stubbornness, but in the blink of an eye I had sold my mech and all of my rebuildable stuff on the classifieds.

Well... fast forward to tonight, and you know what? I was an impatient idiot for selling that stuff. So I just placed an order for a silver K100 and another IGO-L. :D I also ordered a five pawns sampler, and Cyber Liquids Apple Jax and Krunch Berries. You only live once, right? I hope this works out. My credit card has its eye on a Reo Grand, down the road.

And although this turned into me rambling about myself, if anyone has a story about trying rebuilding/dripping, giving up, and then returning to it later, feel free to ramble too.

I love the flavor that comes from an RDA. The key to a RDA and mech combo, for me, is to build a sub ohm build. That way, I get a higher wattage vape. Translate to more flavor and more vapor.

Dripping , once you get use to it, is quite easy. To me, dripping 8-10 drops into a dual coil atty at 0.6 ohms, I get about as much vape time as it use to take for me to smoke a cigarette. So it was a good way to spend my break at work. Just don't drip and drive.

My first foray into rebuildables was with drippers.

While I definitely liked it more than the protanks I was coming off, my builds were mediocre at best, and it follows that performance was mediocre as well.
I kept the Ego and protank arround for convenience reasons.

I fell in love with Kayfuns for a while. But then as my building techniques got better I began to spend more and more time with my drippers.

Now RDAs are probably about 90percent of what I vape. Kayfun (or a Kraken Genny) usually only come out to play if I am going to be driving for a while.

The flavor of a good Rda with a solid build is just completely without rival

I agree with everything Pink said here. I, like most started on eGos and clearo's and the like. I then moved on to the Kayfun and RTAs and was completely digging it. My first little RDA was an IGO-L (still have that little guy) and i cut my "building" teeth on that and a Patriot. I quickly fell in love with drippers and that's where i am today.

My Kayfun only get use when i'm out and about... esp places like a bar where i don't want to be as obvious as i would be with a dripper. (keeping clouds in check) When i'm at home it's currently a 3 way split of time between my Tobh, Magma and Plume Veil. All 3 great attys for slightly different reasons.

My first foray into rebuilding was ss mesh gennies. I went to an instructional session at a local B&M, hosted by the first guy I'd ever seen building them. I hadn't even read anything about them on ECF or anywhere else at that point. I immediately purchased my first, along with some wire and mesh. I sat up most of one night doing my first build. After that, I took the thing apart and rebuilt it every day for what must have been weeks. Eventually, I got pretty good at it, and I'm glad I did. Not only did ss mesh gennies become my every day vape, but it also established a baseline for evaluating the quality of whatever else came along later. I still use mesh gennies when I'm out and about. Later on, I fooled around with Kayfuns, Taifuns, Squapes, etc., and while they do provide a decent vape and are easy to build, for me, they just never measured up to the performance I'd get from mesh gennies.
At the same time, I'd been making my own juice for quite a while, and had been using debridged atomizers for juice sampling. Eventually, I got the idea that since I already knew how to wrap coils, I should maybe get a couple Igo Ls. It would be easier to just change wicks when I was testing juice, than have to clean out my debridged attys.
Eventually, it occurred to me that the flavor I was getting out of these little Igo Ls was the only thing I'd come across that rivaled the flavor I was getting from my mesh gennies. I began using my drippers more and more. I already had a decent collection of gennies, so I began looking around at other RDAs, and began collecting them. I began building dual coil drippers, and became so impressed with sub ohm dual coil dripping, that I began building dual mesh wicks and coils on some of my gennies; the ones that had dual coil capability anyway.
For the past year or so, my vaping has almost exclusively been on either gennies or drippers. Drippers when I'm not out running around; gennies when I am. The Kayfuns, Taifuns, and Squapes collect dust.
