Thanks Kate. I hope so to<G>

And I hope I didn't derail this thread its a good one, I just wanted to give an example of why what Trog is saying is not simply a make believe concern about where replacing the demand for a working product to begin with, with the idea that paying more for customer service instead can replace that can lead, if we simply give the suppliers and producers the idea that we're okay with just the service, and why our experiences with it don't always quite tell the whole story, because we are here, and that makes a difference in dealing with the companies.

I suspect the "products" will get better in the future. And for some, everything seems to go pretty well (me for example). But given where this product is in it's life cycle, I think it's doing about as well as I would expect, and when it isn't, it helps to have good customer service.

A year from now, that will be a different story. I expect a much better out-of-the-box experience. I know that no one wants to buy something that doesn't work, but it happens even today with consumer products by reputable companies. And many times customer service in those cases is horrible. They almost make you feel like your a criminal sometimes because you want something for your money.

As to the guarantee durations, my suspicion is, the durations were "gambles" or a "marketing approach" expected/planned to draw customers. For some, it may pay off. njoy doesn't appear to be vanishing even with their higher pricing model, and (sorry...) SAME HARDWARE as everyone else. In the case of the (I think) Sedansa (5-year), I suspect that is going to significantly hurt their bottom line in the long run. But again, New business...you gamble. Some win, Some lose. Who knows, maybe the next wave of hardware will be long term and sustainable?

OK, I think I sprained a finger, so I will end this here. But thanks everyone for your insights/thoughts/opinions. I like this free flowing concept and find it educational and entertaining.

Have you had any luck yet Ilyanna?

I needed replacements for a couple of manual switches a few weeks ago. I posted the two faulty ones and emailed Harry at Janty Europe to say they were on the way. He emailed me back the same day saying he had sent me three new switches. They hadn't arrived after two weeks so I emailed Harry again. I also mentioned that I had tried to clean a wimpy atomiser in isopropyl alcohol and it had taken the paint off ... and it was still wimpy. I said that I knew it probably shouldn't be cleaned that way and I might have voided my warranty. Harry wrote back that day saying the original switches had been posted two weeks before but he was sending me some more plus another atomiser. So it is possible to get wimpy atomisers replaced by Janty Europe.

The original three switches then arrived two days later with some free cartridges. The postmark was indeed for the date Harry said so I have no idea why it was held up in the post so long.

It's a pity the post is unreliable, I guess that could give them some bad reviews. I personally cannot fault the Janty service, Harry has been speedy and polite in dealing with all my problems, no questions asked about replacements.

Janty(US) also replaced my wimpy atomizer and a battery that has apparently exceeded it's ability to move electrons. So I agree, Janty happily honors its commitment. (And I didn't have to write a 20 page essay on what I had done to prove it was bad, what I did to clean it, what juice/carts I used, etc.)

Now my only problem is, I have two generic pens that are working SO well (for over 1.5 months) that I haven't taken more than 1 test puff on the new Janty atomizer. lol I have managed to ... acquire quite a large collection of spares. I think I have 6 spare pen-styles, and one is a Janty and another one is an Njoy. And I am still using the same 4 batteries I started with, although, I think they are growing wimpy too, and I may need to migrate to a few spare batts soon. (I did have 2 batts that went bad, but they weren't lifespan failures.)

I think I have enough e-cig stuff to last me until the middle of next year (minus juice). In my case, I think most issues were related to learning my new habit. I have had the same "learning" issues with other things too though. I can still remember when i went to my first strip club with $10 in quarters. :D

P.S. Maybe others can learn from my mistakes. Silver-dollar coins are also not widely accepted at strip clubs.
