I am going to try the Camel snus from the gas station. I like that it is low nic and sweet.
Now can we start a list of the minis for beginners. I don't want loose stuff. I think beginners can start with mini white porttions? what is the difference between mini and mini white?
Thanks!

IMO, they're disgusting. Anyhow, I think there was a description or something on the back of the package describing what the minis are.

First off ignore the above post. Some people have a great need to give Homo sapiens a bad name.

As to your questions.

Snus is basically a moist tobacco. Both loose and original portions are on the moist side. Whites are dryer. The basic difference is that the taste and nicotine of whites comes on a bit slower, but last longer.

Nether one is right or wrong. It's just personal taste. If you don't have massive nicotine needs there is no better place to start then with mini whites.

This would be a good start for sweet mini whites

General mint mini
All of the Discreet products (from what I've heard. I haven't tried them as of yet)
Though not my favorites, and to expensive for what you get, the camel SNUS (mellow and frost) are with out a doubt on the sweet side.

Besides those you would likely want give the Mocca and Catch products a try. Though some are not quite as sweet as the above you may end up liking them more then you thought you would. Snus can be a bit of an acquired taste. If you don't like something on the first go round, put it in the fridge and you may have a different opinion when you try it again in a few days.

The "candy" snus's are ungodly good for beginners. There aren't many people that don't like the CatchDry mini's. The White Eucalyptus is usually on everyone's top ten favorite alltime snus list. I was very fond of the Mocca brand also. Their Pomegranate is to die for. That being said, your best bet is to try a place like buysnus.com and get their mini sampler.

Hope This Helps

Thank you guys!
O.K. so far we have the following "mini" list: (not sure if all of these are "white" or not)

  1. the camel SNUS (mellow and frost) are with out a doubt on the sweet side
  2. General mint mini
  3. All of the Discreet products (from what I've heard. I haven't tried them as of yet)
  4. Mocca products. Their Pomegranate is to die for
  5. Catch products
  6. CatchDry mini's. The White Eucalyptus
  7. try a place like buysnus.com and get their mini sampler.
Questions: Are the above all "white". which of the above are the least "burning" on the gums? Thanks again!:)

Discreet is now available at getsnus.com, and they have no burn to them at all. The flavors are awesome (strawberry is my fave), and they're very competitively priced at 99 cents for a pack of 10. Plus they're made here in the USA, pasturized like the Swedish snus, and NOT made by one of the big tobacco companies. :)

Call them "candy snus" if you want, but I love them even after trying several Swedish snus. :)

NO BURN? Why? How's that possible? :)

NO. It's not the same. I would suggest avoiding snus with the most nicotine. Try to match your snus' nicotine level with your level as a former smoker. For me, 6mg to 8mg is just fine. That opens mini snus, which I like best. I've done the Thunder stuff, and it's okay, but will not be a re-order. See how you do with entry-level snus like General Mini Mint, Oomph Citrus/Menthol (3mg is fine) or the new Discreet products.

Are you the ......n president of the homosapiens?

I think just the General Mini Mints and the CatchDry minis are white portions. If I'm wrong, someone will jump in :p

That was for Lord of the Homos, perched on his pile of snus. He's so high up you know what might not be able to read or hear. :D

Rogue:

OK. You find snus disgusting. Great. Fine. You have the right to that opinion.

But the topic of the discussion was on recommendations of mini portions for beginners. Not opinions on whether snus was good or bad, tasty or disgusting.

And yes, Stubby took a cheap shot at you. But that's no reason to start a flame war in this thread. If it's that big of a problem, then you should report it, take it to the mods, or take it outside.

Now, that being said, I'd also recommend the General Mini Whites. A lemon-orange citrus flavor with a hint of pepper. Not that sweet, per se, but a nice change of pace. It gives you a chance to try a more traditional snus flavor that's not overwhelming. Kind of an "Onyx/General lite"...
;)

Do you mean General mini-mints? or is mini-whites different?

Yeah, they are different. Technically, they are called "General White - mini portions". General White is the name of the original flavor that General first marketed.

General Mini White - GetSnus.com

Again, as I said before, they aren't "sweet" as such - more of a citrus flavor. But neither are they as strong or as bitter as most traditional snus. They are actually too mild for me, but a beginner to snus should find them as a step up the ladder, so to speak.
