1. Atomizers aka Attys,
2. Cartomizer aka Cartos,
3. Clearomizer aka Clearos,
4. tanks
5. Dripping
6. Bottom Feeders, ,

Which is best?

My opinion is that I don't know which is best. Taste is subjective. Everyone has a different opinion, I've tried every thing except the bottom feeder. My favorite is the Clearomizers Clearos because I think the Cartos have a plastic taste to them and the dripping is too labor intensive. Many swear by Bottom Feeders but without direct experience, I'm not qualified to comment. Maybe I've got to spend $200.00 to round out my education. Sigh....

Their is no superior system, although everyone thinks their method is superior, it's just a matter of what you like.

To make it simple for your first forays into vaping Clearos and Cartos are simplest and convenient at an economical price point

The most popular in the vaping world in this order [Arguably]
1. Cartomizers- including Carto Tanks
2. Clearomizers- Newer Technology and catching on
3. Dripping and Bottom Feeders

Let's start at the beginning

All units are universal in that they have a Battery, PV (Personal Vaporizing Unit) and a Coil that heats up to vaporize liquid. There are just different ways that it's packaged and to do it.

When I began 4 years ago I started with an 801 connection which is fatter than the 510.
Attached to my APV unit was an Atomizer and than I pushed a Polyester Cartridge into the Atomizer. [Inneficient]

So we had 2 parts
1. The Atomizer which has the Coil that gets Hot
2. The Cartridge that has Polyester soaked in Liquid with the bottom coming into contact with the atomizer

Some people dispensed with the Cartridge part and would drop the liquid directly into the atomizer coil. They call this dripping and it's still done today.

Next Came the Cartos or Cartomizers
Manufacturers figured out they could take the two pieces, Atomizer, and foam cartridge and combine them into 1 unit called a cartomizer. The coil in a carto is usually embedded in the Polyester and as it heats up the liguid is vaporized. You take the mouthpiece off an drop liquid in to keep the Polyester wet. Or you might use a drip tip which has a design that allows the liquid to be dropped through the tip without having to take off the mouth piece.

Next came the Clearomizers.
Many didn't like vaping Polyester for taste and possible health ramifications. If you've ever used a cartomizer after a week the Polyester Filling shrinks. Where does it go. I hate to think that I vaped it up. The next step in vaping development was a clearomizer.
The way a clearomizer works is that it has wicks that extend into the clear tank. thus the name clearomizer. Sort of like candle wicks. The liquid travels up the wick [top coil] or down the wick [bottom coil] into the coil. It's clear, no foam, so you aren't inhaling plastic [Yes I'm biased]

Now we have some very interesting Variations.

Carto Tanks, This is a large Cyllindrical tank.. The carto tanks have a cylindrical cartomizer that has holes punched in it and than is inserted into the tank. The tank is then filled with liquid and the cartomizer is kept wet by the liquid going through the holes. It's a way of not having to refill often.

Than we have Clearomizer Tanks which are clearomizers that are enclosed in a large tank.

Now let's get back to dripping.
Dripping is considered by many purists as being the best vape as you only have two elements with nothing between them. The liquid and the atomizer coil. Problem with dripping is that it is time consuming, potentially messy, with a learning curve. You have to drip liquid on your coil just about every time that you vape. I've tried it myself and as a admirer of simplicity and convenience, it just wasn't for me. But many swear by it.

The E-Cig industry always finds a way to innovate. A few years ago bottom feeding mods came onto the market. The Reo Grande is the most famous. They have a plastic bottle that fits into the body of a box mod, and than you squeeze the bottle and liquid will come up from the bottom and saturate the coil in the Atomizer.
This solves the messy dripping problem and makes the dripping process civilized and convenient.

These are the choices, try one or try all. As mentioned above, beginners should use Cartomizers or Clearomizers. Leave dripping and bottom feeding for a later experimental phase.

Although the Reo Grande Bottom feeder has a devoted following, they haven't reached the price point for a new vapor to make the investment. [Arguably]

I'm one of those guys that smoked almost a pack a day of newport menthol then later shrinked down to 1/2 a pack daily but whats strange is that when I started vaping (dripping using little 510's)I found a comfort zone at 18mg nic. Anything above was too much and anything less was too weak. However, when I recently switched to ego twist vv with vv nova even 18mg nic became too much which then I had to change all of my liquids to 14mg and lower.

Something else I realized just recently is that I must be a VG guy. All of the new liquids I ordered from VB and MsT were the norm 70/30 because that's all they sold, but before this I only vaped almost 100% VG from cignot. When I tried 70% PG my skin became itchy, TH was too strong, and it wasn't as smooth as inhaling VG. Who would have thought my mind and body would reject PG lol:)

So here's a question for you guys. So if I want to dilute some of my liquid(which I do)that's 18mg and 70/30 could I simply go grab a bottle of VG from my local CVS and mix the correct amount of measurement to get the result I need? Is it really as simple as I am describing?

Thanks guys! This is such an awesome thread:beer::thumbup:

Yes It's that simple.

Buy a bottle of vegetable glycerin at your local Drug Store. It may mute the taste a little. Depends on how strong the juice is to begin with also if the Vg makes it too thick add a tad of purified water. CVS is fine, I've used it before.

I Make it myself [DIY] vape 100% and thin with water.
Oh a little secret with 100% Vg Liquids if you add a trace of Everpure 190 Proof [Ethyl Alcohol] it will make your flavor pop. The liquid you are purchasing may already have Alcohol in it so you may not need to add alcohol when diluting down.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
A tip: All VG isn't the same. My favorite is the Organic VG from Mountain Rose Herbs. Here

My thanks to OROBAS for pointing out something that I forgot. It's so basic that I didn't even think to mention it. But it should have been addressed much earlier in this thread.

You just took my advise and you bought a Ego Twist What Now?

Orobas's Father in law thought he had to know a whole bunch of stuff to use the Itaste MVP and became intimidated.

So below is the Instruction Guide that answers the question what do I do now.?
This is for the Ego Twist, next one will be for the MVP
1. Fill cartridge. This Video Shows How Click Here
If you have a Kanger t3 it's very easy.
The top is the mouthpiece. The bottom is the Base.
Unscrew the metal base from the bottom of the cartridge. You'll see two rings, the very bottom is rough and right above it is a smooth metal ring. Those two unscrew apart. Position the tank so that the mouthpiece is downward direction. Than you fill by putting your dropper at the edge of the cartridge and squeezing the liquid down the sides, paying special attention to not getting liquid in the center post.

If you get liquid down the Center Post with the Kanger t3 don't worry. You just blow it out.
Take the Cartridge part and blow in the direction of the Mouth piece. [Over a Trash Can or in a sink] and you can do it empty or full just as long as you remember that it has to be upside down when full or the liquid will spill. By the way if the innyards ever have condensation than blow through the Innyards from the large round bottom in the direction of the little tube at top.

Don't overfill, Did you Hear me? Don't overfill until you get the hang of it just fill it 1/2 way. Later you can play with filling closer to the top.

Now that it's filled with liquid. Screw the Kanger Innyards and tank back together.

Step 2 Ego Twist. Plug your USB Charging cable into a USB outlet. I strongly suggest that you use a Powered USB Hub, Dedicated USB Charger. Plug into your computer at your own peril. PROBABLY NOTHING WILL HAPPEN, but there have been reports that Ego Chargers have shorted out computers. It's rare but if you are going to do it, you should know the ramifications.

Step 3 Now that you've plugged your USB into your USB Wall Charger or USB Hub [Hopefully] screw your ego into the charger. The light should turn red. Leave it in until the Light turns Green. Sometimes they come fully charged and when you screw in it'll stay green. If that is the case. Smile!!!

Step 4 Hold your Ego Twist with the flat bottom facing up and you'll see numbers on the Metal Ring. and on the body you'll see a white dot. The numbers stand for Volts. The higher the Volts the hotter the vape. Now if you are using the Kanger T3 the next step is easy. Turn the cap to the right [Counterclockwise] until you are 1 line to the left of the Number 4. [3.8v] It's in the direction of number 3.2

By the way if you aren't using the Kanger t3 my instructions are different take the white dot and line it up with number 3.2

Step 5 Screw your cartridge into the Ego Body.

Step 6. Prepare yourself for nothing to happen. Yes be prepared that the Ego may come locked or maybe not. So to avoid being intimidated say to yourself the first time I put the unit up to my mouth, press the fire button it may not work. Reason is that you may have to unlock your Twist by pushing the fire button 5 times rapidly than you'll see the button flash 3 times. Now you are ready to rock and roll.

Step 7. Take a drag. My technique is to start out like a cigar or pipe and suck the vapor into your mouth, than when full inhale. Not too hard, nice and steady wins the race. Do you like the temperature you are vaping at? Everyone is different, juices are different. If it's too cool than hold it upside down with the ring facing up and mouthpiece down and move the ring from 3.8 to 4 [Clockwise]. Take another vape. If you like it stay where you are at. Too Cool Turn Clockwise and than take another Vape. Keep doing that until you find the perfect temperature. Too Hot than move it [Counter Clockwise] until you get the perfect vape.

Caution-Newbie Error Avoid Take it slow only go 1 bar at a time. Don't skip 5 bars. Too hot and you'll fry your Atomizer or get a bad burt taste. Remember slow and easy runs the course.

Step 8. Enjoy

I have to conditionally disagree with tomzgreat.

Some new users won't be able to grasp ohms and volts and will simply assume as so many do that more should mean better and get ...... off when they get burning wicks instead of vapor.

But only you can make that determination for your potential convert. My father in law has been vaping almost as long as I have (about a year, now) and he discarded both the iTaste and a spinner as too complicated for him. I started with regular ole kgos, and while I could have grasped the concept of variable voltage, I'm only just now even using it occasionally because some of my rebuilt vivi nova heads are coming out around 3 ohms.

You just took my advise and you bought a Itaste MVP What Now?

Orobas's Father in law thought he had to know a whole bunch of stuff to use the Itaste MVP and became intimidated.

Start by watching this video by PBusardo Click Here
It might be enough or you might want to read the instruction guide I put together below.
I've found that some people learn better visually and some like to read instructions as they go. So I wrote the guide below.

This is for the Itaste MVP
Now that it's filled with liquid. Screw the Kanger Innyards and tank back together.

Step 2. Charge your Itaste MVP. This is really difficult[Brain Dead Easy] look at the bottom and you'll see a MICRO USB Port same one that is on most Cel Phones. Take your Cel Phone charger and plug it into that port. If you are an apple user and don't have a Micro USB it comes with the Usb Charging cable. Plug the big USB cable into your Powered USB Hub or Wall charger, or gulp computer. This unit is higher quality than the Ego, so I feel more comfortable plugging into the computer.
Than plug the smallest of the 3 connectors on the little square box at the end of the cable to your Itaste MVp

When recharging the light on the Fire Button will turn green. Once it's charged it will turn off. Wait until fully charged.

Step 3. You probably will have to turn the unit on. Just push the Fire Button quickly 3 times until you see it turn a whole bunch of colors and now it's on. Hurray

Step 4. Screw your Kanger T3 into the Unit. Than go down to the bottom of the unit. You'll see two buttons one has V+ next to it
the other V-.
V+ stands for Voltage Plus [Raise Voltage], and V- for Voltage Minus [Lower Voltage] when you push that button it will raise the voltage that the PV is outputting, this causes the coil to get hotter and results in a warmer vape, when you push the V- that lowers the voltage and makes the vape cooler.

Press both buttons at the same time and you'll see a number pop up and than wait a second or two and you'll see a second number which will be between 3.3 and 5.0 . That second number is your voltage. The Mvp will output between 3.3v and 5.V . For the Kanger T3 2.4 Ohm Adjust it to 3.7 by pressing either the V+ or the V- Button.

If you have an unknown Atty/Clearo/Carto or aren't sure that your Kanger is a 2.4ohm I want you to start out at the bottom setting of 3.3V instead of 3.7V. In this way you can be sure that you won't harm your Atty/Clearo/Carto.

Step 5. Take a drag. My technique is to start out like a cigar or pipe and suck the vapor into my mouth, than when my mouth is filled I inhale. Do that 2-5 times depending on how hard core you are. Not too hard, nice and steady wins the race. Do you like the temperature you are vaping at?

Everyone is different, juices are different. If it's too cool than go back to the buttons at the very bottom and push both at the same time, wait two seconds for the number to appear and than press the V+ button 1 time and make it 3.8. Keep raising it by .1 until you reach the level you like. Too Hot than just press the V- Button and move it by .1 V until you find the sweet spot. Warning, Warning Will Robinson just do it .1 by .1 don't skip and do more than .2 at a time otherwise you risk burning out the coil and getting a burnt taste.

Step 6 Enjoy

I was on another post and realized that I hadn't fully addressed this subject in this post so

Could you possibly explain vv to me? It makes it hotter vape? It makes some juices taste better? I swear I'm still in math class where I'm explained how to understand the equation over and over, yet I still don't get it!! (Ill kick your ... in history and science thou!)

Hi Magenta
All Vaping units are made up of three elements
1. The battery
2. PV Body of the Device
3. A coil that heats up
4. Eliquid

A Battery will charge to 4.2V and than as you vape it will go down in voltage until it is discharged.

With a Non VV setup there is not regulation and when the battery is charged it will vape hotter at the beginning and than when near to discharged will vape cooler. Unless the unit has some sort of voltage regulation which most cheapies don't.

Variable Volt will stabilize the voltage so that if all remaining factors remain the same you will enjoy a consistent vape.

Now a second variable is the Clearomizer/Cartomizer/Atomizer. For simplicity I'm just going to use the word Atomizer in place of naming Clearomizer and Cartomizer. All Atomizers have a coil [Except Bridgeless] and depending on which one you buy the coil will have a higher or lower Ohm rating or Resistance. I think that Resistance stands for Resistance to Current but I'm not sure. The simplest way to describe OHM/Resistance is. Imagine that you have a very fat metal coil and you put electric current into it. By the way the amount of electric current that you put into the Atomizer is measured in Volts. So they say running your E-Cig at 3.7V or outputting 3.7 Volts. Than you take the same amount of current and put it into a thin one. The Fat one will not heat up as much as the thin one.
So lower Resistance Atomizers will run hotter with the same amount of Volts going through them and Higher Resistance Atomizers will run cooler. The Acronym for Atomizers 2.0 Ohms and below are LR [Low Resistance] Standard Resistance SR are 2.4 to 3.0 Ohm and High Resistance HR is above 3.0.
One final variable is that over the life of your Atomizer/Cartomizer/Clearomizer the resistance or Ohms may change.

Variable Voltage has the advantage that it allows you to use different resistance Atomizer/Cartomizer/Clearomizer by changing the amount of voltage to match the resistance OHM of the Atomizer.

Now the final variable. Most E-Juices are different. For example I vape 100% Vg [Vegetable Glyercin] but the most common [Arguably] on the market is 70% PG [Propylene Glycol] and 30% VG [Vegetable Glycerin]. Different Juices will taste better at different temperatures. So a Variable Volt will allow you to compensate for differences in Juices.

With Non Variable Volt for the average Vaper [Not playing with the OHMS in RBA Rebuildable Atomizers] you can't tailor your voltage to provide for the best vape.

It's useful to have more than 1 place to buy things, when I looked on Ivapes site I couldn't find the replacement coils.

It's a shame that I can't change the first thread and suggest that the Vapor purchase the Itaste MVP, t3 and replacement innyards from Ivape, that's simpler than sending them to two places.

Interesting when you do a search for the Kanger t3 the Mt3 and t3 come up but the Inyards [Coil Replacements don't] but if you look manually they do.

So to make it easier
One thing though, I'm suspecting that they might be knock offs because Ivape doesn't use the Kanger Name in the description. So we'll need some input from Stinkboto about whether the replacement coils vape same as the original.

T3 1.5-1.8 eGo T3 Sol Fuego Coil replacement - Low resistance | eGo | Cartomizers | iVAPE
T3 2.5 eGo T3 Sol Fuego Coil replacement - standard | eGo | Cartomizers | iVAPE

So....finally got around to trying iVapes t3 coils. I'm not knocking iVape. I think they are a great vendor. BUT, I don't like these coils! The fit is not good...it would not fire on my MVP! I switched to my ego-twist. It fired but I did not like the taste. I switched to my Kanger Protank and all is right in the world now. Vaping on some Venom from Mt. Baker. So gooooooodddddddd

Bump the giant wall of text because it looks like a lot of good information I wish I would have had in the beginning and because some text told me too!

I didn't read it yet, but I will! lol
I am verbose aren't I [Laughing]. Appreciate the thumbs up. I wish I had some of this information in the beginning too. !

I think it's tricky and unethical business practice to name the Kanger T3 by a different name. Sell the original Kanger using that different name and then sell a knockoff replacement innyard for that made up name and not fully disclose that it's not genuine Kanger.

I think that what they are doing is shady business practice. Myself, I'll stay away from that company.

By the way, to get it to work in the Itaste MVP, take a small set of pliers and pull the pin out of the knockoff Kanger just a little pull should do it.

Damn, you've clarified almost everything for me. Thank you for that! I smoke a pack a month; sometimes I go for days without smoking. However, my cig-a-like from dealextreme makes me want a better vaper. I'll skip the whole ego-c stage and just jump straight to the next step.

Thanks to this thread, my top two choices at the moment are the Vamo2 and the iTaste MVP. As for the tank, I want to get the Kanger Protank since everyone said that it does not leak. I used to smoke while laying down on a hammock or a bed, and I also vape that way too. Any recommendation for a tank/clearomizer/whatever for vaping while laying down?

Somewhat got frustrated reading the entire thread. I thought you were done, but then wait, there's more!

I enjoyed reading this thread. Thank you.

Vamos II has it's following and the Itaste MVP too.

I hear more about hit and miss quality on the Vamos Series.

There is no right or wrong decision. The Itaste MVP to me has a better form factor, I like the 2 1/2 day battery life.

If you are going to do more xtreme vaping than the Vamos might be better. If you are in the 3-4.8 V using 1.5 to 2.8 Carto than the Itaste MVp should be all you need.

No right, No wrong just what feels right.
