Hello all,

I'm (very) net to e-cigs and I wrote up my (bad) review of my first e-cig which I received about a week ago: the ePuffer Magnum. Both batteries have bad switches after a week. I just put in a support ticked to ePuffer requesting either an RMA on the full kit + the additional cartridges I ordered (nearly all of them burnt paper after about 50 puffs), or a full refund on the order. I'd actually rather have the refund and get something else to be honest.

Anyway, if I do end up with the refund, what would you recommend as a good e-cig for someone who was attracted to the LTv9, and why?

Things that attracted me to the LTv9:

It looks like a real cig, about the same size and shape as a real cig. To me i was attracted to the overall look and feel of a real cigarette as part of my analog replacement therapy (and because of paranoia that people might look at me wondering what the heck device I'm using to smoke illegal drugs if it doesn't look like a cigarette lol).

The second thing that attracted me to the Magnum was the vapor quantity I saw demonstrated in the videos. To me, vapor quantity means a lot.

The third thing was of course the video reviews I did see on it - obviously things have changed and now their (LTv9) quality is sub standard.

I would preferrably like to find a replacement that would be more cost effective (rather than almost $150 after shipping), not to mention a better quality product but with all the characteristics I liked about the LTv9.

Thanks for any and all suggestions/ replies!

And I also forgot to add, I have looked at the PeeWee on Puresmoker's site and it looks just like an LTv9 style in outward appearance, although if I'm right it has the separate atomizer and cartridge, right? That would be good because then it would be easier to refill. Anyone recommend the PeeWee or can attest to it's vapor quantity/ lifespan? How many puffs per cart? Do the batteries last as long as the LTv9 batteries?

I'd hold off on the Dura if I were you. It's had a history of battery issues and carts leaking. The new manual switch version is out now and is supposed to fix these but I'd wait for the intial hype to die down and see how the long term reports pan out.

From what I've read the Pilot has had more consistent positive feedback as has the intellicig evo. Also don't forget the 901 is a great model. It's the same form factor as the Dura and widely recommended on this forum.

I can only recommend the dura since its the only one i own. Never had major issues like others report:p, but the minor ones i did jeff @ janty took care of asap.:).....Oh ya....my first e cig was from epuffer the super mini, thought i wanted the closest thing to an analog as far as apperance, BIG mistake. Had the same run-around as other people report with trying to get refund. Came down to the "threat" e-mail of reporting to BBB before i got acknowledged by them:mad:

It seems now might not be a good time for ordering the Dura, as I can't find anywhere on the site where you can order one. They seem to only be taking pre orders for the Dura-C.

The Puresmoker Pilot is out of stock as well, as Nuck seemed to have suggested. I checked out some reviews on the Evo however and it might be the best option if I don't want to wait for Puresmoker to get Pilots in stock or for Janty to release the new Dura (and, as Scrubadub said, the Dura-C will be too new to risk at launch without reviews). The only thing I didn't like about the Evo reviews was the short cart life and battery charge, and the vapor didn't seem to be as good as something like the Dura or Pilot (I may be wrong about the vapor, I don't remember off hand what all was said).

Dura or Pilot would be my first choices from what I've seen, Evo second and 901 last simply because the 901's vary so much now (some of the newer ones I heard are terrible quality compared to the old ones, and others of the new ones burn up atomizers quickly). Unless someone can suggest where to get a good 901.

I do hope to get a full RMA or refund from ePuffer. I won't threaten to report them to the BBB, I'll simply do a charge back without notice if they give me a hassle or are unresponsive, I'm not going to play games with them after everything they've done to me and half this forum :)

Hi Deficit, The evo and the pilot are very similar (same model). I had great luck with Intellicig when I ordered my evos. It arrived in 7 days from the day I ordered and in the 6 weeks Ive been using them, they have worked flawlessly.

Thanks Nuck I'll keep that in mind! I'm also eyeing the Bloog and the Puresmoker PeeWee, got any advice on either of those?

Thanks for the insight, Kate. Looks like the PeeWee/ RN4801 might not be the best option, since most people seemed to consider it OK but not the greatest. I'll keep lookin, but the Bloog or EVO appear to be the two best options since the Dura is in a pre order/ transition phase at the moment. I need more research on the Bloog before I make a decision.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I really appreciate it!

I just ordered a Bloog - nycsublimegirl was kind enough to give me a 20% discount code lanza and my order only came to $123 USD with the starter kit and 25 carts (including the sample carts), which is STILL $33 LESS than what my ePuffer Magnum came out to with 12 total carts and shipping. From what I can tell, their charger is actually a USB charger that also can be plugged into AC and double as a wall charger - ePuffer's was a wall charger only. And, I can already tell Bloog's customer service is going to be MUCH better than that of ePuffer.

Now I need to go order some juice off Steve at Puresmoker so I can refill the carts - nycsublimegirl said they can be refilled for about 1 week each before the atomizers go bad, which should save me a TON of money on carts (the carts from BloogPlanet.com only come out to $2.25 apiece as opposed to about $3 apiece elsewhere - it's only 75 cents but hey, when you go through about 2 of these atomized carts a day like me it adds up to $1.50 a day ($10.50/ wk, $42/ mo) savings). Refilling will help with the savings as well.

I plan to do a video unboxing/ review when it arrives, hopefully next week and I'll be sure to post it on this site!

You might be interested in this thread Deficit - (link above - had to remove in order to post, won't let me post links yet - Deficit)

Some some of the things in the first page of posts in that thread are what makes me still leery of the LTv9 style e-cigs... it's a great idea, great technology, vapor is second to none, yet the batteries seem unreliable and the carts only last 50 puffs (give or take) before burning the paper. Some people have suggested using the carts for a few hours and then topping them off with e-liquid to keep them moist so you don't smoke the liquid dry and thus dry out and burn the paper. I might try that when I get my Bloog.

Meanwhile, I am in the process of uploading my video review/ demo of the ePuffer Magnum to Google Video as we speak (14 mins, too long for YouTube), however I am uploading it as .OGV video format (I run Ubuntu Linux rather than Windows or Mac OS), and once it's uploaded I dunno if Google will be able to convert it. We'll see. If not, I will try to find ways to convert it to .AVI or .MPG so I can put it up. The review is 100% full, no sugar coating - from shipping, customer service, packaging, batteries, carts and charger - my account of my complete ePuffer experience. I hope you all enjoy it and find it informative. I'll repost here when (and if) it's uploaded!

deficit --

here is a quick vid of me using my EVO. i don't smoke all day, i filled these carts the day before (custom blend, i cut with glycerin/vg about 50%), and this battery was used all last night (not charged last night, charged days ago) and used today.

this is basically...a well used battery and well used cart, and STILL great vapor from the EVO. also...this goes about the same for the Pilot, i have one as well, both perform very well for the long term and no drop in quality from fresh charge til they die.
