Here is Emmas story of being a young puppy. When she was three months old or younger, she was dropped off on a country road. The people who found her, well lets just say they are not the nicest people to humans nor animals and of course they are the ones that found her. They had her for a couple/three months and did unmentionable things to her, besides just beating her.
I was at my mom and step dads home and she was there. I grabbed her and put her out on the back porch, thinking she would still be there when I was ready to leave. Nope, I didn't see the hole in the lattice and apparently the parents didn't know about it either, she jump off the porch. A couple of weeks or so went by, my mom caught her and brought her over :) She has been living a good life and is happy. She is camera shy, but I was holding on to her ball, that is how I was able to take this picture of her. Sorry the pic is sooo big.

Thank you, Redd ((hugs)) I agree. What they did to her, they would not want it to be done to them!!! I am so very fortunate to have her here. Thank you

I automatically love all people who adopt pets, mainly due to my kid who is very pro animal rescue. The only dog we actually "bought" was his first... It was my two year anniversary of sobriety and me and the husband went out for an evening ramble which included crossing a horse auction, so of course I immediately demanded we stop, and we just fell in love with this Australian Cattle dog puppy someone was selling, she was a great dog.

All the rest we've had have been rescues, including scooping them off the street and/or going to the pound and only looking at the ones about to be euthanized because their personalities were so "unpleasant." My son is a dog whisperer, though, every single one of our rescues has turned out awesomely, and they usually started out feral.

I think abused/neglected dogs have way more personality, and every single rescue we got turned out to be the finest dog. We had our "raised from scratch" doggie (who seemed to love every living thing, including rattlesnakes, she always wanted to "play with them) to help them along. It's so much more work at the start, but so rewarding in the end!

Our dogs are/were almost unrecognizable (both in looks and behaviors) from when we found them. We picked up a dying dog at the Mission (it's a Franciscan monastery in Tucson) that fit inside my hoodie. I was fairly certain it was going to die, but wound up a HUGE, regal (and very calm) mostly German Shepard. My little brother ended up claiming him (we do have a dog limit) and he is one of the most well behaved, adorable dogs you'd ever meet. I had NO idea what we scooped up, but a dog that great deserved to live....

I've tried to get my mom to adopt one, but she travels to much. But pretty much every other family member does rescues... Except my older brother who buys "registered" dogs at exorbitant prices, and then pays all the vet fees for hip problems and whatever else.

Give me an interesting mongrel any day of the week. :)

I always forget when it's Mardi Gras. I was in middle school in France the first time I encountered it. I went as a rubix cube, and everyone was all freaked out by the idea of coming in a "non-human disguise."

I was an unsolvable version, I made sure of that. LOL. MAN, I so would have visited New Orleans before I got sober, but now I'm scared to (same with Costa Rica, their beer is.... AWESOME).
