After discovering Kinetic Sand — a material that looks and acts like wet sand — Fatimah Siti (@sandsationofficial) made it her mission to share it with as many people as possible. “Kinetic Sand is a toy for children, but it’s also for adults,” says the 23-year-old. “People tell me that watching the same video over and over helps them relieve anxiety and sleep better.” That’s a common side effect of #ASMR, aka autonomous sensory meridian response, when certain sounds and visuals cause relaxing tingling on the head and neck. Using everyday objects like potato mashers and butter knives, Fatimah shapes the sand into objects, then slices and smooshes them. “I like the soft texture of the sand — and the crunchy sounds,” she says.
