thanks Mrs. SD! that can help us all out. i knew about portions for sure..i try and do a bunch of tiny meals but cant always make that happen!! its a work in progress every day!! and big ((hugs)) to you!!! and of course one for you my friend!!

Hello Mr Green, here's what my wife has to say:
When making a smoothie as a meal replacement, the most important thing to think about is quality not quantity. The smoothie needs to be very dense and high protein. 32 ounces sounds like you are getting a lot of calories in that one smoothie. I use either meal replacement Garden of Life protein smoothie powder or Shakeology from Body on Demand. I use the recommended scoop, unsweetened almond milk, my fruit is frozen and I use one cup, I add two tablespoons of sunflower seeds and 1 cup of power greens to get veggies in. I get about 16 to 20 oz when I do that and it's nice and thick. I am full most of the day with that one shake, but the idea is, to replace a meal once a day with dense protein nutrition and then lunch, avoid starches, anything with sugar, if you want potato do sweet potato and do not add anything except teaspoon olive oil and a little sea salt, no fried foods at all, at least until you see that you are dropping weight. I am sure you have been told by your doctor about what you should and shouldn't eat. Depending on the weight, height and bone structure you are there is a certain limit of calories per day you should have. Moving your body is only part of what you need to do to lose weight, portion control is 90% of it and believe me it is hard. I was very sick and weighed over 200 lbs for a 5' 2" woman, I tried everything to lose weight, moving trying to eat right, but had all the odds against me, ie. metabolic syndrome, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, sleep apnea, I was finally talked into it by my doctor, had bariatric surgery (gastric bypass). Now this is ONLY a tool, it will help you if you are disciplined, if not, you will be right back where you were before you started. In a year and a half I have lost 61 pounds, I am no longer on medication, I can move and exercise and believe me I can eat all day if I want to but I am so grateful that I am where I am, I am afraid to even dare over eat ever. I hope the best for you as I know having arthritis in my joints which unfortunately did not heal, it's hard to move some days. Hang in there, even if you can just walk slowly do it, because that will help you lose weight. Remember portion control is the number one thing that will help you lose weight! Avoid, white starches, sugar and fat and you will be fine. David can tell you how I feed him, he eats almost what I eat. He does not have a weight problem, never did, I never did either until I had chemo which changed my dna. That's my story. Hope it helps some.

My wife is very knowledgeable with nutrition and such and has learned a lot, or I should say, we have learned a lot about health issues & found cures for these, as she is living proof! It seems the gastric bypass for people that are obese is proven to be the only alternative for some & without it, they continue to only gain weight!
Hope you find the solutions that naturally work for you and we'll try and bring info to you also...guess should of done this with pm but oh well! :)SD

Woa, a little rain eh? I guess that's part of living there huh? I don't think I could handle it and I feel for you folks there, I'd be scared every time it started to rain!

I just had to reply my post here and say that on second thought, although, I think I'd like pulling up to the Beer Garden in my boat & having a beer!

Our "king" Louie was hit by a car and killed yesterday.
He was the best cat who ever owned us.
He was sweet and loving with a great personality.
We are all very sad at this time.

I had renal cell in '12..partial nefrectomy.weak as kittens.

Stopped smoking, house bound slew Mr oreo everyday.w milk of course . Only thing I liked.lol...75lbs later(280 total),apnea,HBP, bad Cholesterol, bad knees.no diabetes.
Got the "sleeve" in '13..reduced to 4oz stomach. Weak again..all the time..Lost my "guns" but nothing much I could do about it..working my azz in off on 90+° driving a straight truck w no a/c instead of my cushy big rig..(could only drink water.w a sleeve..it's either eat or drink..not both..) 1/2 shifts on VolunteerSquad, until got too weak to do both.
Lost 75lbs in 6mo. Leveled off..could eat and drink.. I could eat a sandwich now,but still hungry.
Now back issues & recent surgery,I've gained back 25 in 6 mo..maybe I'm doing the smoothie thing wrong..

1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup blueberries
1 banana
2+ cups vanilla almond milk.
It's very thick ,but separates and loses the "foam "have to re blend..or shake it up.
