Hi All:

A week or two ago, someone here introduced me to the "condom method" of refilling cartomizers. That's really worked a lot better than just trying to drip a couple of drops into a used cartomizer. So I was wondering if there are other refill methods that I'm not aware of. (The condom method seems a little messy, and I think I'm wasting some juice.)

I'm using an RN8041 system. Do you have any suggestions for blank cartomizers and/or refill methods? Thanks!

Hi Dupont,

I usually take the top off and drip until the filling looks wet- not just a couple of drops. The condom method is a bit messy for me, especially on the RN4081 cartos (I get mine from smokstick, They're pricy, but burn-resistant). You can also use a syringe to fill from the top instead of dripping liquid in. Whatever method you use, be very careful to make sure the threads are wiped clean and there's no liquid in the inner tube. If the cartos are drippy the liquid can seep into the auto battery and ruin it.

Thanks CES. How do you take the top off of a cartomizer? Is there a method I'm missing? (By the "top," I assume you mean the end that you draw on - not the threaded end that connects to the battery.) Mine seem pretty firmly stuck in there. Maybe "blank" cartomizers are more easily opened.

Also: thanks for the smokstick recommendation. I'm just starting to look around for empty/blank cartomizers.

I used carto's for a while, and my hubby still uses them. I had a large yarn needle I used to pry the top off the carto. Just take anything that will fit in the air hole and gently pry it out (unfolded large paperclip, nut pick, push pin, ect) . Then you can drip down the sides till a drop comes out the battery end to signify it is full. I also used a syringe with blunt needle, and after prying the cap off, I just pushed the needle down the outside of the batting down to the bottom and filled with 1ml of juice. There are several threads on how to fill a carto, just use the search bar up above and you will find OODLES of infomation :)

Most of the time the little white cap is just stuck in there so you can use a pair of tweezers, or a dental pick to pry it off. Sometimes the caps are glued in, in which case you can either break them out and put a drip tip on instead, or try to melt the glue by putting us the top edge into very hot water.

SS doesn't have blanks- and only menthol and tobacco flavor- but i like the tobacco, and refill with whatever i want. there is a subforum SmokeStik and an ECf discount. Again you can get 4081 supplies less expensively elsewhere- but the quality is very good

(BTW, i also use a kr808d, a Riva and a mini Reo.lately I've been switching off between the Reo and the SS pitbull)

Dupont, could you tell us what brand ecig you are using. Some are MUCH harder to pop that plastic cap off than others. My first ecig was an Elektro which was VERY easy to pop that cap off with a tiny screw driver after taking the sticker off the cartomizer. Though, when I got a GreenSmoke, being they do not want you using anyone elses cartos (special threads), or taking off their cap to easily refill (cap is really long and glued in there), you really would have to somewhat damage the cap to get it off. I developed a small tool which consisted off a small fish hook and a long thin screw driver. I would get that hook inside the carto, and pull up on one side, rotate it slightly pull up a little there, and keep going around until it eventually comes up.

Get the 510 atty's from Provape.com. They have a rubber cap on the end which pops right out with ease, and are VERY good.

I don't know if you are aware that you can remove juice that is already in there just incase you want to switch flavors, or an atty goes bad once you fill. You don't have to waste it. Let me know if you need info on this, and I can explain how.

Thanks Nautiboy - I'd love to hear about removing juice. I have the nJoy nPro e-cigs. And with the help of those YouTube vid's, I just poped the top on two cartomizers and refilled them! Much better results than I was getting with the condom method. And the suggestion (from the 3'rd vid) of using the condom as a replacement end cap is interesting.

I keep forgetting how much info. is out there (YouTube, etc.). The internet is amazing!
