Better to leave the center tube in there. It will indeed keep juice from leaking out, but not much. With modded cartos I usually couldn't get more than 2 or 3 drops in there before it leaked.

I was thinking the same thing (after I took it out and saw how much light was coming through the bottom hole around the coil). The tube appears to be made out of some type or cardboard or other absorbent material. Will it not soak up the juice and contaminated the flavor of the next one that I'm sampling?

In the bottom of the carto, there is actually a very small well created. The metal around the center hole is slightly raised, and has notches cut out of it to incorporate the wick.

OIC. Cool. Thanks again :)

Your Boge "carto" appears to be an atomizer, not a carto. No polyfill in that, right? Some 510 atomizers come in that two-piece assembly. You can throw away the plastic upper half and the small plugs as well. The only part you need is the short tube with the coil inside and the 510 connector. That's the atty.

Correct. The Boge is not a carto (no poly inside it).

if it "spits," the juice is "popping" from a coil that's too hot. Turn down the voltage far enough that the spitting stops.

OK, cool. Just seems that the drip tip would be extremely close to the coil....actually the bridge above it. Was worried about heat or raw juice in the mouth. What voltage or wattage do you guys run when dripping with a tip that close to the coil or bridge...just curious, I know this is very individual preference.

Is your 510-510 adapter closed/sealed or open/unsealed? Both types are sold. The obvious difference is that the sealed adapters do not let any juice go through them. If your adapter is open (meaning that is has a hole in the center), you might want to drip juice carefully down the inner wall of the Kanger barrel. Just tilt the carto slightly away from vertical when dripping. Juice will drip down the side of the barrel into the small well the surrounds the coil.

It's open/unsealed :( NOT what I meant to get but oh, well.

Most 510 atomizers/cartomizers/clearomizers have open/unsealed connectors. Some atomizers are sealed/closed. Those are specifically marketed with the name "dripping atomizers."

Aha!!

Unlike spaceballz, I never had trouble with leaking or with dripping 4-5 drops of eliquid into the modified carto. If you're worried about it, just leave in the center tube and drip around it.

Great advice on the modded Kangers. Thank you both!! Those are so inexpensive, I can try both ways and see which I like! ;)

BTW, as far as the flavor and vapor production from dripping vs clearos.....Holy $&i?! You guys weren't kidding. Many reviews on devices and such describe the enormous differences from this thing to that thing comparatively. As a relative noob, I haven't been able to tell all that much when I try the two things myself....but dripping is truly a whole different beast all together!!!

"Spitting" or getting hot juice in your mouth is not generally a problem with most standard-length (meaning short-barrel) 510 atomizers. That short-barrel length is what 95% of the atties sold come with. By contrast, long-barrel atomizers are relatively rare.

I run at 9 watts, give or take. Spitting is infrequent in my experience, but I get a lot more juice in my mouth from clearomizers than from dripping with atties.

Awesome! I'm still dialing in but will eventually settle between 7 to 9 as well. Thanks buddy!

I use standard (2.3 ohm) Joye 510 atomizers and I never get popping or spitting.
And I generally run at about 10 watts.

Maybe it's because I take (and like to take) slower and longer drags than others.

As I've said before, dripping is an art.
And now I guess it might be time to add that vaping is also an art.

Vaping as a dripper may be more of an art than anything else out there.
And it can be perfected like nothing else.
:)

not able to wait anymore for digital ciggz to re-stock their 5 attys for $10 deal, i went to my local shop expecting to pay $8 again for a single atty. They no longer had them on display but had thrown all their attys in a box and the clerk had no idea what they were or how much to charge. He agreed to take $10 for 5 fo them. They all turned out good so I went back yesterday and got 12 more for $20 so I'm pretty well set for the next year.

Wow. It is neat to come across a "find" ! I wish I had a B&M near me (less than an hour's drive is what I consider near me lol)

Direct dripping is definitely the way to go while at home. It spoiled me! Now I dislike filling clearos, cartos or tanks to go out and about and deal with less flavor for those times.

Been vaping on my .357 all day. I think the reason I don't like it is because it brings out some unpalateable flavors from my Newbie WTA. The Vapage Hybrid does as well.

I only have another 50 ml to go. :(

eww unpalatable sounds awful ...Does changing the volts/watts not even help?

I only use mechanicals. I'm vaping my own blend of Vapor God's Arctic Wolf and Aroma's Newbe WTA. The Newbie is a menthol WTA with what I believe is a bit of TA, and I simply do not like the oily/ashy undertones of the TA. The TA is muted in my Stingray atomizers but really comes to the forefront in my Vapage Hybrid and .357.

Thankfully I only have another 50 ml of this mixture to go and then I can get some more unflavored WTA and not have this issue anymore. Unfortunately, 50 ml will last me another month and a half. So it will be some time in June when I can revisit my other atomizers.

On the bright side, I haven't purchased any vaping supplies since around the beginning of March. :D

Just dropping in to say my sealed Stingray 1.5Ω atty still working like a champ! And even though I generally don't dry burn, I drop my voltage down to 3.2v and pulse a little bit (got that idea from DC2) and the coil and wick look brand spankin' new -- and perform as such! My KP atty never quite got going, and was a disappointment, but this Stingray has made me happy!

I have got so much new gear coming in right now it's not even funny, but it's easy to wait for things and to not be too pressed for the new hardware to workout when you already got a vape that satisfies.
