So I wandered from the beaten path for a while and have now returned. Got myself a Russian 91% and learned how to build coils, and such.

I bought a lot of my beloved Joye 510 attys when I heard they might not be available much longer so I am set for a long, long time. I am back to them. What a different vape and experience from the R91.

I missed the ritual of manual dripping. I know that I do not have to blow through large quantities of liquid to have a thoroughly enjoyable vape. My old friend serves me well. The R91 is for the out and about times and my movie nights. And some lazy days.

I enjoy having to think about what I am doing and the liquid and the dripping. And the draw.

Well, hi all. Missed you.

Hey, Shari!

I've had to come to the realization that I just don't like tanks in general. I just bought an RTA and while I haven't even built it yet, I already know (now) that I really just don't like tanks. I bought it on a whim and I believe that it is a good piece of hardware, but I am rarely ever out and about, so dripping suits my needs 9 times out of 10 -- and on that 10th time, I'll deal with the slight inconvenience of dripping.

I like clearos and have a whole slew of them---EVODs, T3s, wickless CE5s, iClear16s---but, like Mr.Mann, I'm not a big fan of RTA tanks. All three of my Kayfun clones sit unused, along with lots of now years-old unused filler cartos. Every JDS has its advantages, of course, and I'm certainly not knocking tanks or cartos. Some people swear by their Kayfuns or Genesis-style tanks and won't vape with anything else. I just happen to like the vaping experience of some clearos (bottom coils especially, although wickless CE5s and iClears please me as well) and regular, old-school 510 atomizers. The boutique 510 attys are certainly nice---HH.357s, Stingrays, dedicated dripping atties, and such---but I've got a huge stash of the JoyeTech standards, and I'm very happy with them.

As so many posters have noted on this thread, there's something about the ritual of dripping that is often very fulfilling, almost perversely so. It's the only method I use to taste test new juices, but sometimes I just drip for the sheer pleasure of it.

I'm pretty sure that, as an ex-pipe-smoker, dripping helps with the "need to fiddle with something" bit of the mind. The good news is that dripping is a lot cleaner than running a cleaner through a pipe stem (you won't believe the number of shirts that I've ruined with tar stains). :)

So I went back to dripping my Smart Vapes 1.5 atties because i was tired of rebuilding last week and i havent put it down lol. Only thing I hated was the tight draw so i drilled out the holes to 1/16 and it is just right now. now my problem is the juice doesnt stay in with the bigger holes and i drilled out my drip shield but it fits too tight to the sides to let air flow. Took the top off a carto tank for now lol. Any suggestions on an atomizer with an open draw?

801s are the airiest. Good flavor and vapor, but they'll leak if you let them sit for a while.

I am having fun and frustration with building coils. I have gotten some amazing flavor with my R91 on the few tanks I have run through it. But it is a different kind of amazing. More mindless and habitual vaping Almost like when I chain smoked cigarettes. And that baby sucks up juice like there is no tomorrow and no budget. Nice for once in a while and a treat or short sessions but not for all the time. It is convenient for away from home and it is very well built.

I have always only used my Joye 510 attys for taste testing since Mr.Mann introduced me to them back in July of 2013. I can not figure out how people taste test juice using clearos or cartotanks. Sounds like a lot of wasted juice and hardware.

Well, I'm a bit sad to say, but I no longer drip. The Aspire BDC tank just vapes too well (not quite as well as dripping though) and is too convenient for dripping to be worth it for me anymore, especially b/c I only vape one flavor.

Also got the Aspire Nautilus, which is huge, but fun.

I dripped for 4+ years, and now no longer. So long, low-res atties, so long keeping liquid with me.

I knew this day would come, and I'm thankful it has. Direct dripping is inconvenient, but it will always have a place in my heart.

I recently bought an Aspire Nautilus BDC Pyrex Glass Clearomizer Tank during a sale at VaporBeast. For a fancy Juice Delivery System that comes with pre-made, replaceable coil heads, this 5ml adjustable-airflow monster produces flavor and performance that are better (meaning closer to dripping) than anything I've tried, which includes many RDAs/RBAs with perfect micro-coils and Kho Gen Do organic cotton wicks. I like the Nautilus so much that I've ordered a second one from eBay.

Nothing will completely replace atty-dripping for me, however. I taste-test new juices often, and I don't want to have to fill a tank (or worse, empty and clean a tank and its coil and wick) just to try out a new flavor. Dripping into a standard atomizer provides the only relatively easy, convenient way to change juices on-the-fly. Sometimes, when a new juice is particularly tasty, I find myself dripping for a couple hours, just because it's so darned good.

Ah, the more things change, the more they stay the same...

I have a deep seated aversion to devices that make me use replaceable heads (no way in hell I'm rebuilding those complicated), so I doubt I will ever buy one for myself, but I do need to try one out to see what all this hype is about.

And yes, I appreciate the irony of saying that I do not like having to buy replaceable atomizer heads when I use disposable atomizers, but I get months and months out of those, and have never gotten anywhere close to that long out of a clearo head.

Whatever floats your boat, Ben. Vaping is all about personal preferences. I'd never suggest that someone should or shouldn't use any specific hardware, and I sure as heck don't expect others to use what I use.

As much as I am loving rebuilding right now, I still use my regular attys. I am pushing some pretty serious watts on a mech and a dual-coil build, and it's great, but the TH and old-school feel of the vape of regular attys just can't be beat. I've also found that upon waking I can't vape those airy (or open) devices as they make my early-morning gut feel a wee bit queasy -- so I rock regular attys for the early morning. Well, I guess I vape with them at night too since I am vaping on my trusty Joye right now as I type this -- man, that full TH will always strike me as the way a vape should feel.
