Regulateds are better than mechs

Ultimately we will vape what we can get. Mechs are fine. Many years ago I was lucky enough to test a prototype of the Mako. It was great. I bought a Megalodon. That was great. Regulated mods, however, work better and are safer. I like simplicity and safety. Tonight I'm using an istick 50w with an Aspire nautilus Mini on top. If vaping had been this good in 2008 I would have missed out on development and been much happier. You will be able to tell from this that I am not a cloud chaser and am a mere tootle-puffer. That's true. This habit has replaced my pipe/cigarette/cigar habit, and I'm better for it.

But what will we do if the apocalypse comes?

We will have other things to worry about. Imho.

Everyone will be breaking into cigarette machines and your home.

When this discussion devolves into "everything is more dangerous than the other" it's time remember that probably no one has ever blown up a Provari. I own a couple, and they are second string now to my cheap Chinese import 50W mods. They may not "do much" and they may not be as convenient to operate (being one button designs, for reliability reasons) but they are probably the safest way to vape if that is the top priority. And when Woody Allen dusts off that VW Beetle a couple of hundred years from now, if there is a Provari in it, it will probably still fire

I only came up with 2 other fires in that mod. One was another member here, a couple months after mine. So it certainly wasn't a common occurence with that mod, BUT it could've set my house on fire. Or killed my birds, who are very sensitive to smoke. Or the battery could've vented had I not removed it so quickly.

There are a lot of mechanicals that will auto fire if you stand them up without locking the switch.

Yeah, and I would never buy one of those, or I'd fix it so it would not do that. For me it's mandatory that I can set my mech down with an atty on it it without it firing. That's why I favor top/side button mechs. My Poldiacs and my Roller will never be able to do that, or burst into flames like that regulated mod either.

For the record I did have one bottom button mech fire in my absence, because it was a bottom button and I had put something over it in my car to keep it out of sight so it would not be stolen. It cooked my RSST and ruined a battery, but did not start a fire.

How long do you want to go on with this?

The real mischief is charging the batteries. I'd be willing to bet mechs have caused there share of fires when battery charging is included.

I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I don't have to choose so I just have both.

In the interest of full discloser I have to say I have never had a problem with either kind during actually usage. I have had some,ah, "interesting" things happen with mechs but I count those as experimental. I do find myself reaching mostly for regulated these days. Mechs kinda only come do on old timers day lately. I mostly like battling tanks and regulated are easier to work with. Currently at war again with the Goblin. The Goblin is the tank I love to hate, soooooo good when its on yet downright evil when it wants to be. I'm gonna get a saddle on this one yet.
