Like buying something you don't like.

    Heheee, sure you have :D
    I so totally believe you....

    I saw it!

My batteries charge outside my mechs, in a CHARGER. So please do explain.

Exactly. And when we hear of something bad its generally involving battery charging.

Many regulated modz charge as a unit. The they are intact during the mischief.

    Mechs come apart during charging.

Its all the same operation. Charging the battery.

Kbox batteries must be removed to charge them. Has anyone ever heard of a Kbox causing a fire?? Has anyone caused a fire charging Kbox batteries??

What is your objection to mechs based on your experience? I have to ask, because in all the time I've used them, which has been since I started vaping, I've not run into anything to object to but poor workmanship in the clones I've owned. I'm happy with my mechs, and I don't need a device that does for me what I can do myself with my building skills.

Nor do I need a mod that tells me what time it is, what the date is, how many puffs I've taken, what watts I'm vaping at, what my lottery numbers are for the day, or what my remaining voltage is. If you feel you need that have at it. My mechs do just what I want them to, what I bought them for, and that is to put the voltage straight to the coil I wound on the wick I rolled without the intervening and unnecessary BS and failure points.

The real mischief is charging the batteries. I'd be willing to bet mechs have caused there share of fires when battery charging is included.

The harsh reality is that more ego type PVs have exploded while charging than all others combined.
(was the most counterfeited e-cig battery ever)

What is your objection to mechs based on your experience?

People not learning how to use them properly, or wanting them to do what they were never intended to do.

IMO mechanicals can be the best mods ever (or the worse)

Or it could have been a mech that wouldn't have done that.

I use some of everything, dear. Mechs, regulated and even tc :D In fact, I haven't met much in the way of vape gear that I don't like, which is why I have too much stuff.

I'm about 50/50 on mechs vs regulated.

Well as I said, all I want my mod to do is put the current straight to the coil I wound on the wick I rolled. I don't need it to do anything else. To me that's what my mod is for, and nothing else. I know full well how to deal with the rest of it in my build and the safety I've taken the trouble to learn. My mechs do that very efficiently and I'm happy with them, just like I'm happy with the gennies I have on all my mechs. It's an old school thing, and some will never get that.

Oh but many of us do get (and appreciate) that.

Hell, I still have one of these. (the original mechanical)

I only use mechs. Some are dual parallel battery mech boxes. I generally build pretty low, usually putting my power output somewhere in the vicinity of 100 watt, give or take 20.

I know exactly how I am going to build any RDA. The number of coils, the wire gauge, the number of wraps, etc. For whatever kind of build I feel like doing, I've done it enough times already to know almost precisely what kind of vape I am going to get and what resistance it will measure out to. I am very good at it and enjoy doing it this way. I get exactly the vape that I love. On occasion, I have done builds before that use over 200 watt. This isn't usually an all day vape, but I do it sometimes to take advantage of certain RDAs. With some lower gauge wire and something like a quad-coil build, it is quite easily doable. My wattage is infinite. There are no built-in limits.

I also like having mods that are elegant and durable. I enjoy maintaining my mechs. I prefer the way they look, feel, and function. Regulated mods are popular, and may take more of the market, especially for new vapers who are still trying to quit smoking and are uninterested in learning how to use gear. But mechs will never go away and will always appeal to the enthusiast market.

Regulateds are more versatile than mechs, certainly, and barring abuse safer, particularly for the new vaper. I can also agree with OP mechs are on the way to becoming a niche market. But as to better or worse... Speaking from the engineering viewpoint, it's not about better or worse; it's about suitability for the designed purpose. There is great beauty in simplicity. What an engineer terms "elegance" is primarily about "simple as it can be." It's hard to beat a mech for simple. It's also hard to break one.

I guess I don't understand the need to prove that one thing vapers use is better than another thing, whether it's mods or attys or juice or type of wick or anything else. There are pros and cons to everything. What really matters to me is what keeps me from smoking, whether my setup appeals to anyone else just really isn't that important because it works for me.
