You might try Hypno. It has a tart citrus flavor that goes well with absinthe.
I tried some juice with Hypno, reminded me of Fresca, so you might be right. It was more towards grapefruit rather than orange. I'm not trying to clone Pluid though, it's way too strong for me. I'm thinking I could use the juice I have left as a flavoring at small percentage. The flavor is good just too much for my tastes, I prefer much more subtle flavors.

Sorry I may be a little slow in regards as to what can safely be inhaled/ingested beyond the standard available flavorings, however the cautionary statement(s) regarding this product seem pretty clear...

Caution: For external use only. Do not use directly on skin, dilute in a carrier oil. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin. If skin sensitivity occurs, discontinue use. If you are pregnant, nursing or taking any medications, consult your doctor before use. Discontinue use and consult your doctor if any adverse reactions occur. Keep out of the reach of children. Keep oils away from eyes. Flammable.

And...

WARNING: Avoid with sensitive skin. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Do not ingest. Keep away from children.

Not trying to be a party-pooper, just a little concerned...

I did see that and further read this as well. Actually if you go to wiki and check out the Star Anise many people have been vaping it in the form of aroma therapy for a long time.

For an aromatherapy encounter that’s both cleansing and pure, experience the captivating draw of Anise Star. Its distinct, sweetly licorice scent is dynamic – with Anise Star Oil, a little dab will do. It can be massaged into the chest for respiratory health, and has enjoyed a long history of traditional use in the areas of digestive and women’s health. Our Anise Star Oil is steam distilled – steam is used to vaporize the oils and active ingredients, so they can be extracted and condensed. This assures you of the purest aromatherapy experience.

I add 10 drops to a 3 ml bottle with PGA and then use it in my base. Would that not be considered a carrier? It also a essential oil. I don't know I have vaped some oils like Ecto Cooler and others but that is by my choice. I try not to go over board but I will enjoy a juice with oil in it. In fact if you like Pluid it has oil in there as well.

Here is a quote from an ECf thread about oils:

"essential oils" are not lipid or fatty acid oils, and are not the same thing as vegetable oils. They are called "oils" only because they don't mix easily with water (but do mix well with PG, ethanol and oils). Biggest misunderstanding there is on all this. True essential oils are more like alcohol than anything else. They evaporate very quickly, lipid oils do not. Essential oil molecules are very tiny; lipid oil molecules are...well...very fat.

We can go on about it but bottom line is if your not comfortable doing it then don't.

I need to reorder my TPA anise and do a side by side comparison.

Thanks!!

Is this the TFA/TPA oil you mentioned you had before?

Anise (Italy) J.Steele - 12ml - Superior Grade Oil offered by John Steele

I was considering this one while lookign around, but wasn't sure, and then of course I wanted to know which other one you ordered and how it was too. That Puritan Pride one looks like all the others I've seen on ebay and elsewhere, but I've ordered from them before so I might just have a coupon to use so I'll have to check that out.

But Rin13..... :)

This thread is about Pluid, a juice with known and obviously visible (in ml's) oil content, and that's what we're after here :)

Although, I want the Anise for something else entirely ;)

Let us know what you think about the Mary Jane! Been putting off getting that one, but I want to play with it too. Be sure to start VERY low so you don't hit pine instantly :thumb:

That's what happens with Pluid when it sits, after a while there's a nice layer of oil on top, and then after several days/a week the juice is clear and there's a bigger layer of oil on top.

You didn't notice with the Pluid you've had in the past? I guess you might not if it was cut, or if you shook it each day to keep it mixed and cloudy. If you want I could show you a pic of how it progresses after it's been shaken and then settles (clear w/ oil on top, semi-cloudy/partially clear w/ oil on top, fully mixed and cloudy)

* Here's a good comparison for you so I don't have to take pics :)
The Never Ending Licorice Quest

This post doesn't show the in-between state I mentioned, if you want to see that let me know and I'll show you a pic. Or I guess I should say it doesn't show the fully clear settled state w/ oil on top, that first one is partially mixed so it's semi-cloudy throughout.

I'd just rather not use oil. Seems too tricky. Can't wait to get the flavors I just ordered. Got Lemon Lime, MJ (I'm aware it is said to have a pine taste), Guava, Spearmint, Koolada, Hickory Smoke and Smooth.

The TFA MJ is more like Gin than FA Gin is. It's pretty good with some lime.

I think the oily layer in Pluid contains the citrus flavoring not the anise. I got some on my hand when I first got my bottle and it smelled and felt like this citrus cleaner we used to have at work. It was called Limeolene or something like that.

Well then it would have to be both oils, as I've tasted it too and it was super Anise to me, and I've seen others mention vaping mostly it and getting a super sweet Anise hit too. So ya, probably both/all the oils used are what separates into that layer, as some only take a little bit to get there, others a week+ before it all separates out.

Don't forget about sweet Fennel either :)
