Mine get weekly tear down with a warm water bath in the ultrasonic cleaner. I'm outside most of the day where it's hot and dusty. Between over squonks and drips caused by the heat they can get pretty dirty. In no time.

Both products will work fine. The Howard Feed n Wax is the one I use.
As Jif said, the Howard wax will have a slight citrus smell to it. If that's objectional to you, just using mineral oil is fine.
Some people also use Tung oil. I never have. But from what I understand, it also has a scent, that some people don't like.
