Reo grand fire button not returning

So last night I was vaping away when the fire button got stuck in the on position. I pulled the battery and after discovering my backup was screwed went ahead and took the delrin insert out to try fixing it. I can't see a spring that's supposed to go around the pin or anything so I'm not sure what's going on here. Is the contact plate supposed to push it back up? Is there supposed to be a spring that I lost without ever seeing? Most important question of all.... How do I fix it??

The contact plate is the "spring." Remove your bottle, atty, battery, and give it a good wash under some warm water while pushing the button in and out. Mine returned slowly, this fixed the problem

Working in all the dirty environments I am in, my button gets sticky all the time. Never had it get stuck in the firing position to this point, but its nothing a little cleaning will help solve the problem. As SoftSell mentioned already, remove the button and be sure to clean the hole the button goes in as well as the button... It is pretty simple to do....

As they said. Look at the inside of the delrin cover there is a cross bar that presses against the firing pin and holds it up against the button. the flex in the firing pin provides the spring action to push the button back up.

Post a pic of your firing so we can make sure there are no issues there. But I doubt it a good cleaning should fix you up.

Thanks guys. I knew I needed to clean it as I haven't since I got it. Didn't occur to me it could be related to this issue

I had this happen too and although I don't clean the mod weekly, I do clean it. A rinse under the water fixes it, but I wonder if the tension on the new firing pin is not as strong as the old one. Have you REO veterans read posts like this throughout the years or is this something that has popped up since the new firing pin has been installed?

I would vote "rare and isolated problem". People are being really polite about it, but one of the reasons we all want to see a pic is: button mashing. Some folks really bear down on that button more than needed, bend the firing pin out shape, and eventually the firing pin ends up getting wedged between the button and the delrin cover.

This is the only issue I've seen. One person had the tip of the firing pin break off from mashing.

I had this happen just a couple months ago. In my case, I was mechanicing(if that's a word) on my skidder and I was fortunate no engines were running nearby because I was able to hear this crackling noise and kept trying to locate it on my machine and then realized it was coming from my shirt pocket. Button was stuck down. I spun the button to and fro and it popped up. No damage done, so it couldn't have been stuck down very long. No secret why it happened--I was working in a dirty, dusty environment and I'm a slob by nature when it comes to keeping my Grands clean. My Grands have the locking mechanism disabled so if the button feels a little.....gritty, I just spin it around a few times to knock the bigger chunks loose. Pretty disgusting, huh?

I removed the locking pin from my grand. When mine starts to stick, I clean it and apply a thin coating of lithium grease to the pin. Works like a charm.

In a dusty environment grease of any kind is not ideal. Please trust me on this one. I have other mechanics lube up dock plates and the oil and dust makes a very nice glue. Those idiots put oil on I take it off, clean lasts longer than greased.

Isn't it easier to clean the mod rather than use lithium grease?

i ask as someone that learned the hard way, melted about 8 buttons thru neglect and even modified some so as to stop it! With the new contacts - never had a problem and i vape low Ω coils all the time - think maybe 0.3Ω is the highest.

I'm also a button masher, and so using button tops just makes things worse and allows me to press even harder. If you are the same - ditch the cover until you know how hard (or not) to press it before it fires.

Cleaning didn't solve mine on its on for whatever reason. It would still want to stick, so I figured it was worth a try to apply the grease and it worked great.
