Do you want a mechanical or a VV? That's probably the only determining choice you need to make between the 2. I own both, and both work extremely well, but I've put the provaris in storage finding that I much prefer mechanicals with RBAs. One of the new provaris I bought developed firing issues within 3 months of purchase and had to be sent back in for repair. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. I definitely prefer mechanicals over VV for armageddon storage if that's a concern for you.

Oh, you can wash your REOs too. I put mine in a bowl and add boiling water then let it cool down. Then scrub it down with a toothbrush and dish soap. Rinse well, dry thoroughly, add a dab of noalox to the firing pin. Vapes brand new again.

These "Should I buy a (insert name here) or a Provari?" threads are becoming so common that maybe ECF needs to devote a sub forum to this question alone.

I also wonder, no offense OP, how many are posted just in order to provoke a flame fest.

The difference is we are not fighting on this one because they are basically equal in the well-made catatory. And they have equal fan bases. The deciding factor here is personal preference.

Why choose? I have both and am very happy.

Still cheaper than analogs, brother. Can't put a price on life unless you work for Big Tobacco and Big Pharma, I say. But back to the question, they are apples & oranges. I cut my teeth with a Provari and over 11 months later I couldn't survive happily without my VVG. I like to think of Reos in particular like the Provari of bottom juice-feeding box mods.

If you can't get both, get a provari first because it offers more delivery device options not to mention everything else folks said. But that opens the door to more spending. Truth be told, my favorite is a Reos bottom juice feeding mod. Gravitated from provari's to reos because I'm a dripper through and through.

If you're looking for a solution, a go to setup, you can take a chance with a Reo. I would recommend the Variable Voltage versions because of the built in safety. And if you do like it, welp.. You saved yourself boatload of money and time finding something you can live with.

I take the view that comparisons with other mods are reasonable and fair. I don't have one of everything else and 4 Reos because I feel some altruism towards Rob, but because, very simply, having tried most of everything else - they are the best I have ever come across.

Okay, I know this hasn't been of any help to you but there are no definitive answers to subjective questions... it's just what makes you feel best physically and emotionally and only you can answer that. Good luck, brother, I've spent a .... load of money finding the two different mods that fit all my needs.

It's my opinion that people really ought to try a lot of different things and waste as much money and time as i have, because then their appreciation of the simple benefits and maintenance of a Reo is striking.

Like RHP eluded to, they are totally different beasts! If it was a "Provari vs. Vamo" or Zmax or Evic or so on, it goes to the Provari easily. But this isn't comparing a tube mod to a tube mod. Yes, the Provari gives more options for toppers, but the Reo gives the constant dripping experience. It's beyond even VV and a mechanical, one gives options, one gives the dripping experience without the hassle. Both are well build, both are well respected and both are stood behind.
You don't have to do only RBA's on the Reo, there are tons of dripping atties you can put on it and be happy, 510's, 306's, HH357's, Cisco spec, I06's and so on.
I just bought a used "poor mans Reo" the Vapage Vmod to see if I like the idea and want to put the money into a Reo. I can't say yet, I'm waiting on an i06 to show up so I can get the true flavor of dripping, my juice doesn't seem to like carto's.
This is why it's so hard to give a definitive anwswer, what do YOU WANT? Do you want the dripping experience? Get the Reo. Do you want the option to put whatever you want on top of it when you want to? Then get the Provari. I don't have a clue, so far, what YOU WANT, so you need to narrow it down as to what suits you best.

I have a Provari and two Reos. Really, I think it comes down to the topper you like to use the most. If your a carto tank/clearo user, the Provari is the clear winner. If you like dripping and rebuildable dripping atomizers, the Reo with an RM2 is a definite winner. And if you are h*ll bent on sub ohm vaping, mechanicals are the direction to go.

However, if you're not sure at this point, I think RedhatPat is correct, the Provari is a better place to start. It's the most versatile of the available choices. For me, I found out that I really like the vape I get out of a rebuildable dripping atomizer. So, these days I prefer the Reo. But, I still think the Provari is one of the best regulated mods you can buy.

I own both. Actually 3 Provari's and 3 Reo's (two Reo Grands and 1 Reo VV Grand). I love all of them. But for going out and about I use the Reo Grand's, that is, before I got a Billet Box which in my mind trumps the Provari's and Reo's for work because of the combination of form factor (built in juice and carto) and ruggedness (all aluminum). The only thing sticking out of the Billet Box is a drip tip (I use a SS one in case I drop it). But the Billet Box does only accept carto's so you should take that into account. Regardless, any of the three APV's I mentioned should work fine for work.

Ok be honest, are you saying that because you had to wait forever to get your billet box? It's cool to admit it, brother. I do the same. I swear the best carto puncher in the world is the Kir Fanis one because a few months before I got a Reo I finally recived mine from Greece. I bought two just in case. Boy, just ordering them online was scary especially when you have to use google translate. Not to mention the caveman style communication.

Looking to get new device I have several mechanical and lovem also have twists And a vamo and lovem want a quality product now something that would hold up to my ruff lifestyle as a mechanic what would the community recommend all points of view are welcome and thanks in advance

I would say get a REO first since they are a different shape and feeding style. You might decide they are easier to hold and vape with. ymmv

LOL!
No, I did have to wait about 4 weeks when I got it (I think last December) but it was worth it IMHO.
But you do bring up a good point. The Reo's and Provari are much easier to get your hands on.

I have both as well. They are tanks and since the systems are different, they complement each other nicely. If I didn't have any sort of APV, I would definitely get the ProVari first, which I did; however, you already have a Vamo. The Vamo isn't even close to the quality of a ProVari, but it's a tube mod and you can put your carto tanks on it and switch flavors easily if you want to. For my 1 year tobacco-free, I got a Reo, precisely because it was a different system, which I wanted to try. They hold their value pretty well, so if you didn't like it, you could sell it (or trade it) in the classys and get a ProVari.

I'll echo what most here said. You win with either.

I'll also address a few things I didn't see answers for.

You said you like the a7, was my fav RDA before getting the REO Grand and RM2. In the Reo sub forum there was discussion of issues using an a7 with the REO, so I got the RM2. No regrets there. RM2 performs better imho then the a7, and gives you a bit more room to work.

You can still use cartos on the REO if you choose to, they work with the bottom feed just fine. LR are probably a better bet. I've never been a carto fan, so better to defer to Bad or that cats input on how well they work.

Seen a mention of RDAs needing more maintenance, while true to some extent, my last coil/wick setup (0.8ohm flat kanthal + 2mm silica wick) lasted me 6.5 weeks. So don't really consider needing to wrap a new coil every month or two as much in the way of fiddly.

I own both and love them both

using my REO a lot more than the provari as it's the newest in the family

but IF you are starting with vaping and such, a Provari may be the safer starting choice

more things to put on top of it, regulated power, etc etc

that said, the REO is a heck of a lot of fun to play with if you are into rebuildables, and due to its bottom feeding nature it's a lot more convenient as well

matter of fact, I have not considered buying a second provari, but i already have plans for two more REOs
