I posted this originally in the lounge
thread and thought I should post it here as well...
It is true that the Reo Grand was designed for use with the AW battery in mind, as Rob has said on multiple occasions. I will add that at the time the grand was designed, AW button tops were the only "tried and tested" quality unprotected battery on the market and I believe that played a very large part in that decision. All others were protected or had "fire" in the name which wasn't good at all... AW makes a 3000mAh flat top battery now, but all others are button top unless you go with a protected, which was designed to use in a regulated
device.
It is also true that you can use a flat top battery in the grand also. Yes, (the throw will be slightly longer), but I would doubt there is anyone that can actually tell the difference because it is so minimal.
The current go to battery for me is the LG HG2, as the specs work best for my
vape preferences, (<.5Ω). This may not apply to others here. A battery is as subjective as the atty one uses or the build inside... What one person sees or describes as MTL or DLH is far different than what others will experience. It is something you have to experience for yourself and recommendations might be far from what you expected... What works for others might not or will not work for others. This is where the most money is wasted in
vaping for everyone.
I will leave it at that as that is a whole other topic of discussion...
