I've found that with smaller, 'flavor' type attys, like Nuppins and RM4s, and particularly with 316L ss wire, I frequently run down to 3.6 or 3.5 before I notice a big drop off.
Rule62 ... thanks for posting this, now I know who to ask
I just picked up some 316L, and am getting ready to try it on one of my Nuppins.
I usually use a 2.5 size to coil on, although I have other choices.
I'm wondering how many wraps to do for my first try, and what size to wrap on.
    My SS is 28 gauge
What, and how do you wrap the SS for the Nuppin, is what I'm trying to ask

A Provari 2.5 is still not a bad thing to have in your FDA vapocalypse stash, especially when you see someone like 'Lexi put a joyetech Cubis on one:

    And do this with it:

WOO HOO!!! Howz about THEM apples!!
I actually have a stash of those (from the specials page). Going to pick up one more when my points update. I'll have 4 days to use them before I lose the oldest points.
Hope their stock on the one I want holds out.

BTW: If any of you haven't been paying attention - and need batteries - Randy put up a 10% discount code for the weekend:

***AW batteries, UltraFire chargers, and more at rtdvapor***
Thanks for the heads up on that!! (Hadn't checked email today)

What Ω range are you shooting for and is it single or dual coil? I know most have mentioned having to make their SS coils much lower Ω than Kanthal A1. For instance, it you vape a single coil A1 @.6Ω you would wrap the SS @.3-.4Ω as SS has a tendency to heat to a certain level and then backs off where A1 just keeps getting hotter. This might help you though.

I build my Nuppins to about .33 ohms, with 28g ss.which may be lower than you might like. I use 8 wraps, dual coils, at 2mm diameter, each coil, because of the space requirements.

Get those 18650/18350 cases at RTD by Xtar. I think they are 95 cents - less expensive than any of the other 2 battery 18650 cases. BUT: They are slightly larger internally - so you aren't splitting hinges trying to close them, they are a reinforced design - hard to mess up or crack, and the clasp holds well yet is easy to work.

I think Randy gets a good deal on those from Xtar as other places charge at least two bucks each for that same Xtar case.

Ah well, too late for this time. But thank you!!
I'll go save the link though for another order. :)

Thank You,... right now, according to what I've been vaping on, I'd need 21 wraps  to end up with the same . Think I need to re-think this a bit, and do a lot of experimenting.
I've been using a single coil. I tried a few duels, and twisted, and they didn't seem to make any difference in the vape. So, I'll just keep playing

When I was over at the "bee's", he showed me on his mod, where he placed his coil for better performance, and a cooler vape.
My vape was so hot I lost all the flavor. Doing it his way, and dropping in the gauge I used helped a lot.
I have no idea what to expect from the SS. I use a single coil, but I know how to do duels.
I don't "sub-ohm" so to speak, ... but, I have good equipment, and want to get the best flavor from it.
Right now, I get better flavor from my Protanks, on a Provari's ... even the Vamo's.
I know I'm not getting it right somewhere down the line, ... so, whatever it takes to "fix" it, I'm ready to try. I'm open to any and all suggestions ...
thank you Rule, I'll try it your way

As musichead said above, ss doesn't continue to heat up, like kanthal does. SS smooths out more, because the resistance increases, or 'climbs', as the power is applied to the coil. For this reason, on a mechanical, you build to a lower 'cold' resistance than you'd build with kanthal. For example: with kanthal, I usually set up my resistance to about .4 to .45 ohms. With 316L SS, I'll build around .3 ohms, because when the coil heats up, the resistance will climb to .4 ohms or more. So, whatever you're accustomed to building with kanthal, reduce your resistance with SS.

Thanks ... Now if the coils I'm using right now would just give up the ghost, I could try some new wraps right away.
    thanks

I will say - I have both 28g and 26g SS. I like 26g SS better. The 28g is very thin. I only use it in parallel builds but I have been using 26g high top coil in my Nuppins and I love it. 2.5 coilmaster rod ohms out cold around .3ish but goes up to .5ish...lovely vape. I thought it would be too hot but its just right - nice and warm.

Caution! You MUST make sure you do not touch the sides of your topcap or the center post. Measure 3 times!

Thanks for the info ... I'II start with the 28, since that's the only SS I have to play with, and go from there.
Sounds like I'll probably have to pick up some in lower gauges soon

I don't remember who said it, but SS is more like a TC wire in a mechanical device. It will heat up and cool off in the same drag without releasing the firing button as Rule62 explained. For this reason I haven't felt the need to try it as yet, and more than likely, won't. I just adjusted my standard builds to compensate for the same thing and that has been somewhat working.

Exactly. Whereas kanthal will continue to heat up, as the button is pressed, based on whatever limitations of the battery; stainless will initially respond to the 'cold' resistance of the build, and then the resistance of the build will gradually increase, as the coil heats up. So, after the initial heat up, the vape smooths out. If you chain vape, like I do sometimes, the coil never cools down to the initial 'cold' resistance, because it takes several seconds for the coil to cool back down to room temperature and 'cold' resistance.

My suggestion would be to try Clapton wire. Although i'm quite a brutal cloud chaser most of the time, i'm also greedy and want the best of all worlds. Even simple Clapton wire provides a great deal more flavour IMHO than plain wraps.

It's all i use now and the coils last for ages too, some of mine are going on for 3 months plus of daily ADV use.

OK, I have a P67. I'm just starting to get used to and I can't see how to lock it. There's a black thing just above the bottle that looks like it might be intended to slide back and forth, but it barely moves when I try to slide it. I'm sure it's simple, but I'm a complete idiot when it comes to these things.

According to Rob, locking the P67 was intended to be a two handed process. You slide the battery down toward the spring with one hand, and slide the black piece to the right. When you release the battery against the black piece, it provides a separation between the battery positive, and the P67 top contact.
