Okay so I just did something weird. The door is still off so I can see what's going on and I have the top cap off. I'll try to explain this the best I can-

I had the battery in place, but I pushed slightly down on it so it collapsed the spring a little more. Pushed the firing button and I've NEVER SEEN it produce so much vapor. This lasted about 6 toots and went back to misfiring. Repeated the process(just slight compression of the spring) and same thing. It hits like a train(I hate that expression!) and then I guess the spring stretches back out and it goes back to 'lame'.

Now-when I did that with both batteries(AW button top & Sony VTC5) there's no sparking and the tops of the batteries do not get hot. So, question- should I try pushing down on the spring to squish it up a little?

You will get sparks with any batteries you use it cant be stopped . I would be happy to look at the mod for you . If your battery is getting hot I would send it to me something is not right .

Please send the mod to me I will repair it and send it back asap. Please put
a note with your email address and a brief description of the problem .Also
empty any e juice in the mod and remove the bottle .It helps to put a tissue or napkin around the tube . Please clean the mod if its a mechanical mod flush the mod with hot water and soap .

That tells me there was an issue with battery to spring or spring to plate or plate to body

Rubbing alcohol can leave a film. Try cleaning with an eraser the contacts including the spring and battery. The use noalox or deoxit. I use deoxit.

Will do!! If what you say is the issue, then I may have to send it in to Rob( sad face ).
Thank you both!!

Hi, I am a prospective prospective Rio buyer! Do the Reo's always spark? Or were you referring to Her issue with the battery connection. I mean, under normal operation its not sparking away like an antique toy is it?

There is NEVER a day I don't use my Reo. I only have one--but next time I have the cash, I will definitely buy another one. This is probably one of the FEW mech mods I will NEVER regret buying!

Hey,

Just received my new Reo and I'm wondering about a few things maintenance wise:

- I don't have Noalox or Deoxit handy currently, but do have some copper grease (15% copper). My understanding is that it'll work as well or maybe better to prevent oxydation but just in case...
I did put a bit on the positive pin already as i could see some quite visible arcing, I can't see any arcing occuring after application

- Batteries : I understand the mod has been made with the AW 18650 in mind, but it seems it's "just" size related. So is it OK to use another battery that has the same size (if it is safe for the build obviously) ? What about flat top that are the same size ?
My flat top VTC5s are about the same height as the AW 18650 with its nipple, pack more mah and are safer, so i'm wondering.

Thanks !

As long as it's not impeding electrical flow or adding a voltage drop should work. I use the VTC5 as well as the AW batteries, some report more arcing with the VTC5 batteries. Flat tops where more of a problem with the older firing pins.

Thanks that makes sense.
After passing some time alternating between AWs and VTC5s I find i like the button throw way better with a button top though.
Now to find some nipple top vtc5s
