Hoosier, you are saying that you have tried the Tobacco Absolute from Samara Botane? Did it seem to have a lot of undisolvable solids in it? How did you perpare your stuff to use as an e-liquid ingredient? Did you filter/strain it in some way>
Yes, I've used it. It's a darker tone without as many hay/grass notes as, what used to be typical, TA. Honestly never saw any solids as it's so thick that I cannot see anything but the absolute. As with all my TA, I put 1ml of it in a bottle and then 9ml of PGA and shake. That is my flavoring. (190 proof Everclear is my PGA) I usually use a 1ml syringe that is soon headed for the trash bin anyway and put a bit of tape where the top of the plunger is when the point of the plunger is at 1ml. Since I cannot see much difference between the plunger and the absolute, this lets me hit the mark of something I can see. The result kinda' looks like flat beer, but doesn't smell like hops at all.Actually I use old Halo bottles for this, so I'm mixing a triple batch, but the 10% TA to 90% PGA is constant. I have notes in my recipes for how many drops it takes for the Halo dropper too. It's not many and since it sometimes makes smears on the inside of the syringe, if I measure it like most of my flavorings, I just use the same dropper every time. (Somewhere I have a note of what the drops/ml is on the Halo droppers I use for my TAs, but I don't remember it.)

I can get ash from non-Rustica TA. A bit of Virginia flavoring and a quarter of a pinch of Burley help.

Rustica TA, I mostly use to get a darker aged leaf note. Like a leaf that has gone from leathery to almost sticky in the drying barn.

(For those that didn't spend part of their childhood on a tobacco farm, I don't know how else to describe it. For those who did, I sympathize with your memories of leaf rash and staking in sweltering heat of August.)

Nothing like being under 14 without a worker permit, hungover, on the back of a wagon, smoking a Marlboro, some guy shouting at you, having wet tobacco leaves slapping you in the face every time you lean over to puke, and then grabbing that bottom leaf that has the big fat juicy worm on it at 7 am. ;)

Growing up in rural Eastern NC was just the cat's meow. At age 14 I wised up retired from priming tobacco and got a job shoveling .... and silage on a dairy farm, lol

But I digress ...

Personally I have fair amount of the good old TA still around but rather than search or bother with the intricacies of finding an actual replacement for an existing product that I realistically know nothing about the composition of with another similarly named but different product that I realistically know nothing about the composition of, I am going for Option C:

Reformulating recipes that I used TA in with FlavourArt Seven Leaves instead ( also a product that I realistically know nothing about the composition of, but am already familiar with, lol).

TFA blend is already diluted. Ive been using them both 50/50... previously I was using 2% of just the blend in a batch, now using 1% each of the blend and the diluted azure. Diluted the azure to 5% (its already 50%) using 1 part TA and 9 parts dilutant (PGA or PG). Made another batch with 2% blend and 1% azure but its been sitting there thinking about it, will try it in a few more days.
