Works well. In theory, you could fill the carto as usual (while not on the
ecig), fill the RES to max by opening it and painting the ceramic wick, and have a good long vapetime on your hands.
More often, I simply put the cartomizer on the
ecig (with RES) absolutely drown the carto, blow out the excess (which goes into the RES) and still have a fairly good
vape time without all the bother. Works well, provided that the RES had room for the extra liquid from the carto. (If the RES was already full, you make a mess like this. Trust me.)

Of course, this is what I used to do. Now, I'm using cartos, ignoring RES. A word to the wise: Do NOT, repeat
NOT expose a RES to sudden changes in temperature. (Like, having it in your hand outside on a freezing day, them coming in and vaping it someplace nice and warm. :-( Not happy to have killed my RES.
