Resistance readings changing -- what have I done wrong?

I have just started with rebuildables. This is my initial setup. I have an EGO-T+ with ceramic wick. 0.5mm x 1.0 mm Kanthal wire wrap. Wrapped the ceramic wick 3-4 turns. Filled the tank and checked resistance. Initial reading was 2.6 ohms. I fired it up and it worked. Then resistance reading was 1.6 ohms. It has varied nearly every time I check. 2.0 ohms, 4.7 ohms, once it read 8.2 ohms. Is this usual? Can anyone shed any light on what is happening?

Jumping resistance readings are normally due to bad connections on the positive or negative connection.

Sidekick is correct.
Make sure your leads are snugged down.

How's your multimeter battery? Or are you checking the ohms with your mod? The only reason I ask is because I had the same thing happen to me and it turned out to be my ohm checker, not the coil. Those are some pretty jumpy measurements.

I am using the resistance checker on my Vamo 3. I haven't seen it jump around when checking other heads.

So did you check where the coil met the positive and negative post?

1.8 ohms, although I find that the readings jump around a bit on the multimeter too.

definitely abnormal. check for shorting (esp with deck and cap) and loose connection. if all else fails replace the coil wire.

Tightening up the connections has worked. I am getting consistant readings now.
