Hubby and i went to a local Chinese buffet, he let the man that set us know about the PV he was carrying...the host was very curious, asked how much they cost etc...Husband explained it was not smoke but vapor and the host said it would be fine. Was pretty cool. Through the dinner though several people got seated near us so out of respect my husband blew the smoke out through a napkin or through the straw of his ice tea.

I wouldn't push vaping in a seated restaurant just because so many people dont know what it is and out of respect of non smokers who are paying money to eat out who don't want to see it or deal with it, just me.! but on the flip side I hope it gets so dam popular that someday we all can vape everywhere

hi,
Generally people stare at me when where I do vaping in restaurant or at any other public place. I remember a very interesting incident, I was vaping in a open restaurant which has sitting arrangement in the garden along the road side, A girl was staring at me without knowing where she is walking and then finally she collide with a decoration pillar... :) That moment was little embarrassing and funny for me....

I frequently vape in restaurants, with a box mod at that. However this is Texas where it's hot 90% of the year, and there are alot of outdoor cafes, and restaurants with patios.
Tonight I vaped at Walmart. I mean all the way through the place, even at checkout. I didn't get a stare or a look.
About the only place I won't vape openly is at my job (i'm an ER RN), and at my son's Dojo (martial arts school).

I think it's awesome that your husband talked to the restaurant people up front and blew the vape into a napkin. That is totally respectable!!

When I smoked, I never would do so in front of someone who was eating dinner even if mine was done - and this holds today with vaping. I don't know if it's the smell or simply that smoking signifies the end of the meal (to me) and therefore, vaping does as well. It isn't until everyone is done eating that I'll pull out my PV.

Consider me rude, but after being kicked out in the cold and snow, as well as being taxed to death (but revived), I have a little less tolerance for the nay-sayers.
I vape in public restaurants on a regular basis and am asked what the product is, and many times where to get them (I sell them,,,so..). I am never disrespectful or rude to others and will gladl spend a few minutes explaining the product. I also never vape around children , but folks of age will definitely be informed thqat these are of no harm to them,,and why. Many times I offer others a try. Especially the waitresses (who are usually made up of 60%+ smokers). I keep 5 units on me, and one always ready for use for others. When offered to the waitresses , they take em and give em back when the bill comes due, and my coffee cup is ALWAYS full.
Any establishment that refuses me, will not get returned business and I might just be leaving before the meal arrives. First thing I do is ask to talk to the owner, and never a manager. I want confirmation from ownership that this is their policy at the establishment.
I'm never rude or obnoxious , but I am direct and to the point...wiling to discuss the matter.

My point is
If we don't inform others of the product and it's attributes, as well as get smokers AND non-smokers alike behind us, we are destined to have our vaping rights yanked from us.
It's happened before,,, remember?

I'm actually looking into buy a bulk order of disposables for where I work. I vape when I get the chance (being a waiter that's not often) and people are always interested and want to try it... I don't want random people's mouth on anything I'm putting back in my mouth...

But if they like it i figure I can sell them a disposable for about 5$.

really works out since I work at a resort and the owner really dislikes smoking...

I just vaped in several restaraunts in West Virginia last week, no issues. Granted, I was in a booth and blew my vapor to the side and downward but no one looked at me or said anything even though I was 'visible'. I acted like it was no big deal (cause really, it wasn't and isn't). Most of the time by the time anyone takes a second glance the vapor has dissipated already. If I see someone looking peculiar, I deliberately lay my pv down on the table or drop it in my pocket because that pretty much shows right there it isn't anything 'lit'.

If subconscious about it, you can also hold your hand over the light end. Some of mine have blue lights, which cannot be mistaken as a real cig.

But get the word out as you can, folks. I've actually considered making handout flyers for those who don't want to confront the issue. Something to give full explanation of what the e-cig is and effects to others around them (nill). I've been told they are out there, but the ones I've seen are (to me) inadequate.

But I have a supply of two different cards in my jacket pockets. One explaining what vaping is, and another telling them where to buy the setup I have from me online :D Both cards are popular!

That's a great idea! I've recently started vaping but I'm nervous about doing it in public and having to explain it. Heck, I was actually nervous to ask my cousin if it was ok to vape in her house and she smokes, lol. [btw, she bought a Riva :)] It would be nice to have something to physically hand someone explaining everything.

Did you make up the cards yourself?

The Husband and I were at a Chilis in Rosenburg TX the other day until about 3 weeks ago it was a "smoking" bar so we went there as we know I would have no trouble vaping. After ordering (and sampling) a tall cold one i got out my ego and had a couple of good vapes no problem or strange looks I had asked the bartender and he said of course we have a few of you kind of smokers (chose not to argue the point). I then noticed that the "real" smokers were going outside, the bar went non smoke oops. However they are very vaping friendly and most of the bartenders know and will explain to any other patrons that you are not smoking and they have given you permission to use your personal vaporizer.
