I would buy vape gear from a smoker. I have been vaping on and of for about 3 years. And I finally quit smoking a little over a year ago. At this point, I would buy my stuff from anyone that was honest and had good prices. That being said, I do see how potential new vapers would be averse to hearing about how amazing vaping is if the salesman doesn't vape. If he Vapes as well as smokes, I don't really see the problem...

I would think in that situation you would not want the owner to practice his "hobby" while working, having the Police storming the building might be bad for business.

But wouldn't you want "...the folks to be 'all in'"...and to "see passion for the industry not just passion for money" before you invested in a business?

would you buy a diet plan from an obese person?

Since I did actually once have a gig once working in a weight lost place I can tell you that some people will buy a diet plan from someone that other people might call obese. It works like this. If you start working and you weigh 180 lb but you use to weigh 190 lb then your living proof that people can lose weight. If then you loose another 20 or 30 pounds on the job then your living proof that no only can people lose weight but they can lose weight on that diet plan. What you don't want is to hire someone who has never had a weight problem because they lack empathy for the client and they won't understand the value of the plan.

Would I buy vape stuff from someone who still smoked? Absolutely if they knew their products well and they had CUT DOWN the amount of smoking they did in the past and WANTED to stop smoking all together. Someone who understands the struggle can be far more valuable than someone who stopped smoking the day they started vaping and never had any issues. If customers do stop smoking day one it is a huge plus and they get props for that but not all of them will and the ones who struggle will have someone who is understanding. Not every person who starts vaping does it with the plan to quit smoking and their money spends too. I can't help wondering if this is at least partly driven by "former smoker" snobbery rather than clear insight into selling.

I see your point. Somehow I just don't see me ever being involved in that business, or a lot of other things that seem to prey on peoples misery to make money.

If I heard an "all-in", rah-rah, hyper-committed salesperson selling ANYTHING, I'd run for cover. Too many snake oil salesmen, HYIP investment "consultants," and miracle sellers are like that - sociopaths out to sound genuine.

For heaven's sakes, have people with good people skills. Honest people. Empathetic people. Nice people. People with business ethics. People who know the product specifications, can answer questions without lying, and when they don't know, say so and go find the answer.

There are so, so many examples of shops and industries where the people running them or selling them don't need to have actually tried the product they are selling or making... have pharmacists used all the drugs/toothpastes/dietary supplements, etc., they are selling? Or even some of them? Have doctors had all the diseases they can diagnose? Do vacuum cleaner salesmen actually do housework? Can you make baby clothes if you've never had children? The list goes on.

In the final analysis Butters said it best, tied with the Ocelot.

I would not have a problem with patronizing such a shop. I am intelligent enough to make my own decisions about the worthiness of any product at a given price without being influenced by the personal habits of the seller... I would also buy a Chevy from someone who drives both a Chevy and a Chrysler, if I so wished.

That said, I think that some could be put off by it. I also think that some may be drawn in to asking more questions if they find it to be incongruous. I do know that the only decent e-cig shops around me are mainly tobacco shops, and they are selling lots of e-cigs.

I disagree with any sentiment that e-cigs are 'all about quitting smoking'. They are simply another option for people with nicotine habits. Choice is a good thing. Trying to impose one's own choice on another is not necessarily good.

I don't understand why you would choose not to give him your patronage because he smokes. Do you not eat a chefs food who smokes? Buy a movie ticket from a theater who's owner/manager/CEO may smoke? He could do as he damn well pleases as long as he isn't harming me or breaking any laws and I would shop there if he was knowledgeable on what he is selling and has reasonable prices or some fantastic juices!

Do the prior and you won't be eating out much...

Sure, as long as the stores prices are good and the folks know what about what they are selling. Not my concern what they choose to do with their own bodies.

I guess the one upside to glitter......if we could vape it, I mean.....as any one who has had experience with glitter will attest, if you run out, you will be able to find some on your clothes, dog, under the couch cushions, stuck to the back of your head........... Glitter, the gift that keeps on giving.
Glitter will survive the nuclear holocaust along with the cockroaches.
