I'm not exactly a new member, in fact the guys in work looking to start vaping often come to me for advice. Unfortunately, even though I took up vaping over 2 years ago, due to work and lack of will power I've still been smoking, anywhere from 10-20 a day. Anyway, I've recently been blessed with the arrival of my first child, a beautiful baby girl, and from the moment she was born (6days ago) I haven't been able to stomach the taste or smell of cigarettes. Now, clearly this is a good thing and has given me the motivation to quit and go full time vaping. The downside is though that yesterday I had a little bit of a mishap with my mod (rx200 with an ijoy limitless exo xl with a 0.15ohm kanthal Clapton setup with 70-30 vg/pg 6mg liquid) where it somehow unbeknownst to me ended up set on the maximum 250watt setting (I'm averaging 80-100W) needless to say I ended up with the worst dry hit of my life and it's left me coughing my lungs up since. My biggest issue now is that every time I try to vape I'm left with my lungs burning and coughing.my guts up (literally coughing until I'm sick) and due to the need for nicotine I've ended up having to borrow a few cigs from the smokers in work. Strangely enough, regardless of the disgusting taste, I've been fine with smoking, but vaping is still killing me. I've done the obvious of changing the coils, cleaning out the tank etc so I was just wondering if anyone had any advice?

Oh and sorry for the long ... post, just thought it best to get all the details in.

Hi Daillewe
I've read and noticed that vaping can in some circumstances make you cough and supposedly it promotes phlegm production, especially the VG and I'm a max VG vaper. I notice it hard to vape when I've been subjecting my lungs to (non-cigarette) smoke. At the same time cigs can ease any coughing and I've been told that cigs contain a chemical to suppress coughing which I've noticed does work. The coughs are different though in my experience. The vaping cough is wet and juicy and you end up with clean looking phlegm to spit out. The cig coughs are drier and raspy and don't always produce phlegm and when they do they're usually tinted brown.
I've also read that after quitting smokes you may find yourself coughing for a few weeks as your lungs clean themselves out. I'd give it a bit of time and it should go back the way it was.

Cheers for the support guys!

As much as I completely agree with the fact new vapers often have a period of coughing, I have been vaping.on and off for.quite a while so can say with certainty it's not that. It may be down to the actual quitting of smoking, but it has literally been ever since I had that one really bad dry hit. I think I'll take a break from the vape for a day and see how it goes after that. Will keep you informed

Could smoke until you can vape again.

I would get a low watt/high nicotine setup and try mouth to lung for a bit.

congrats of the birth of your daughter  ... and dude, you can't afford to smoke anymore, before you know it you'll be paying for College
Amen to that, proven effective to get people cigarette free. I still use my nautilus mini an recently got the triton mini. If I had to sub ohm 6mg an cloud chase I'd be craving cigarettes!
