Stop right there. You have a 900 mAh rated battery with a max discharge rating of 2c. That gives you a max discharge of 1.8 amps. Where are you getting the 20A figure from?

It should be obvious right there that you shouldn't be using a battery with a "safe" top end of only 1.8 amps, let alone using ICR, let alone stacking ICR.

Yep this right here.

To OP, multiply C rating by capacity rating to get the Max Discharge. .9Ah x 2c = 1.8A

EDIT: Would you mind posting the link to these batteries?

Well i cant post links... so heres brand / info..
High-Quality-D-K-L-ICR-18350-900mAh-3-7V

Yup, its an ICR chemistry battery. I Googled this brand. As usual, no one lists the amp rating of this battery. Typically ICR batteries will not have an amp rating of more than 3 amps continuous discharge rate. This is not nearly enough to do sub-ohm coils. These batteries are barely fit to fire a simple cartomizer or clearomizer. These batteries are best suited for flashlight use only.

also the 18.4 came from 7.4/.4 = 18.5.
on the link for the bats it says 20C.. i assumed that meant 20A? if not then i will definitely not try as i read the links you(Baditude) posted in previous threads and im not really into plastic surgery lol

This is the link - http://www............com/item/High-Quality-D-K-L-ICR-18350-900mAh-3-7V-Rechargeable-Lithium-ion-Battery-Cell-for/1935082876.html

They are not 20C, not even close. That is a cheap crappy battery and I wouldn't even use it on it's own, let alone stacked.

Do yourself a favor and get some high quality 18350 batteries and don't use them for sub ohm builds. If you want to go to 0.4ohms, then use your VTC5.

The fact that you are asking is a good thing. Many people would have probably just used them and hoped for the best - so kudos :thumb:

Edit, forum has blocked that supplier for one reason or another - but yes, it's the one that is ali and has express in it.

ok great thank you guys. im glad i decided to check here before winging in and blowing my face off.
i would also like to note that the info on .......... stays 20C.. which i see now is completely incorrect and miss-leading.

Found it here: http://www............com/item/High...-Lithium-ion-Battery-Cell-for/1935082876.html

MAX discharge is 20C. You do not want to go by that number. Standard discharge is only 0.2C.

EDIT: Just noticed this forum is blocking those urls. Well you can add in that part of the URL if you want to see it.

alie-express.. man i really cant post any kind of link

Considering the source I would highly suspect they made a typo to begin with. I have never seen an ICR chemistry battery with much higher than a 3.5 C rating. The chemistry cannot deliver high amps and do it safely.

ahhh ok thank you. Whats the difference between "Max Discharge" and "Standard Discharge"?

Max discharge is only meant to be sustained for a second or two, and not often. Standard discharge would be what it can handle continuously.

That is just so wrong it should be enough to tell you that is a place you don't buy batteries from.
LOL Yea that max discharge rate is astoundingly high. No way it's true.

I'm genuinely confused because I = V / R. R is fixed. Therefore, when V doubles, I doubles. The only way that I does not double is if either V doesn't double when you stack batteries, or if R doubles. But, it's a fixed coil, so I don't see how R could possibly double.

I think your confusion is that the amperage in that equation is what would be drawn.......not what the batteries can safely produce.

Haha the fact that ECF is blocking the site is reason enough form me to never get anything from that site.
Surprisingly these are the bats that came with my vamo.. after reading Baditudes post im not sure they're even safe to be using in that....

A lot of the batteries supplied in kits are really poor quality. The good thing about your vamo is that it has built in protection - but even then, best thing you can do is go out and buy yourself some good quality replacements.

Also, I am sure you got one of those wall chargers with it too - if you haven't already, consider replacing that too.

WHERE TO GET BATTERIES

Only buy from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are a few reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics
* RTD Vapor

BATTERY CHARGERS

From Baditudes Blog: Get the best charger that you can reasonably afford. Statistically most battery incidents occur while charging. Pila, Xtar, and Nitecore Intellicharger are the most recommended brands.
