I have tried the rinsing method twice and results have been bad, I simply hold cartomizer under faucet for 5 mins or so, and blow it out into paper towel once, hold under faucet another few mins and then blow it out several times into a paper towel until no water comes out, and then leave it to dry. last 2 times I have done this the vapor has been really low, and the taste and throat hit were faint at best, but topping off carts has worked great, so if anyone would shed some light onto what I'm doing wrong it would be appreciated.

Do you really hold it under the faucet for 5 minutes, then another 2 minutes? That seems a little long to me... I think a good 45 seconds to one minute under warm water works just fine. Blow it out and if you are investing that much time with your cart, spend your time with a hair dryer instead of under water. Your flavor is weak because your filler is still damp, which is giving you a water-downed flavor, and we all know that will weaken vapor production. I was searching for some good answers on refilling to just not to long ago. I got some great answers in the "hard draw" thread in here. My advice is make sure you are completely dry b4 refilling, put your rubber condoms back on, and let your cart sit for at least a couple hours, overnight would be better after refilling... If you need instant gratification, just add a few drops every 40 drags or so. That way your cart will not get to dry, that is if you are refilling with the same type of eliquid. Hope that helps.

I hold mine under hot water for 30 secs, grab it at the battery end and flick it to get most of the water out the mouth end, then blow out the battery end. I do that twice or 3X if it's a stubborn flavor like Mint. Then I fill them up and let them sit over nite. If I just let it sit for an hour or so, I also found that it takes about 10 puffs to get flavor/vapor going. If I let it sit overnite, then it's more like 5 puffs or so.

JenJen thoughtfully supplied me with her method, which I've been following for the past week or so with none of the effects you mention.

Remove cap/silicon grommet (or whatever that thingy is that catches juice). Hold under warm water for 30 seconds, blow through mouthpiece end. Repeat for 10 seconds. Blow again until nothing comes out. Dry the carto outside completely, especially the battery connector end.

Then I refill using the method from the excellent vid sticky on the subject and vape away immediately. The worst I've gotten is the "gurgling" sound from overfilling (seems like different ejuices take different amounts to saturate the carto). I fix that with a light blow through from the mouthpiece side again (cap off) to get rid of some of the excess, clean/dry the battery end and vape away.

Because I strictly refill at home, I usually pop the newly filled carto onto my USB PT, take a couple of "primer puffs" and then go to town--flavor and vapor production are on par with a brand new carto.

I was initially worried about not getting all the water out but then realized the one of the components of ejuice is water, so the only real worry about not blowing it out completely would be diluting my flavor and not drying the battery contact end (would hate to short out my PT--egads8-o).
