Rinsing the wick

Is it safe for me to rinse my wick in tap water and use it? I do this to get rid of any old liquid on the wick and to get some of that black crusty stuff off the wire. I dry it thoroughly with a paper towel after I rinse it off course but I'm guessing there's still some chemicals from the tap that are on the wick.

Does anyone else do this or is it just me.

What is the black crusty stuff on that builds up on the wire anyway?

You can use the tap water as long as you dry and dry burn the wick after. That will help reduce anything from the tap water being left on the wick.
Dry burning the wick will also remove the gunk on the coil, which is heated and slightly burnt juice.

I usually rinse the head, soak it in vodka for a half hour or so, then rinse it again and let it dry overnight.

be careful rinsing the small wick on top of a kanger. i did that and all the fibers fell apart. i basically just put as many back together as i could and put it back on. ive never had super great luck with dry burning. its good to get a little bit more life out of your wick but i can never get them completely back to the quality of a bran new wick

I rinse my protank heads with hot water after a few tankfuls and then blow dry. I never dry burn them because it seems to give me a nasty taste afterword. After a few weeks I just rebuild them as this is a very easy thing to do.

I suspect that 90% or more of us rinse our clearos, wicks, heads, coils, mouth pieces in hot tap water...I dry burn after it all dries to de-gunk the coils...but YMMV.

I rinse my Vivi Nova with hot tap water and let it dry overnight, fill with juice and fire it for a few seconds once the wicks are saturated again (without inhaling, mind you) and then use it as normal. Never had any issues, and it cleaned up some burnt juice from the wick/coil area nicely.

I do it all the time with my vivi and my T2 and also about once a week I will put the heads in cheep vodka and let them souk overnight do a good dry burn and a way I go

Need more data. What type of delivery device are you using?

As for the gunk on the coil, it's a lot of partially combusted material from your juice that needs to go if you want a clean flavor with a new liquid. Rinsing by itself doesn't always get rid of it. You may need to rinse it, soak it, dry burn it and repeat.

You may need to get a new coil or build a new one if your atomizers support rebuildables. Not all do.

I usually just rebuild my coils after about a week or so of use. I bought the 5 pack replacement heads for my protank and evods and rebuild
the used uses after replacing them. I always have a handful of new coils when there is an issue with them. Same goes for my ss wicks, just take apart, light the wick on fire and let it burn all the juice and gunk built up on it off. Wire and silica are cheap if bought in bulk and after a while you know how much to use as to not waste any.

Rubbing alcohol might not be your best option - being denatured, it isn't something you want to consume. If you want to use alcohol, buy a pint of grain alcohol, like Everclear. At least that won't kill you so long as you don't decide to drink massive amounts of it.

OOOoooohhhh, I completely misunderstood... I get it now; use everclear TO clean parts, not WHEN cleaning parts!
