I would definitely go back to that B&M and talk to them in person with the fake Spinner with you. I don't like dealing with people over the phone because it's easier to lie when you don't have someone standing right in front of you looking you in the eye. Take it back to the store and tell them that it's fake and all that and see what they do. If they know it's fake and won't give you money back then go spread the word and give them a bad rep lol. :rickroll:

It's still a one in 12 (or let's say 8 cause someone in panic double checked, lol) I have the real one, with an authentic code that's been used on fakes. And in a 12 digit alphanumeric code, what are the odds the fake company has the exact same sequence? :p

Wow, that's a real bummer. :( Still, thanks guys for helping out and sharing your info here.

The scammers get "real codes" or sequence the factory used on a batch, then have multiple lables printed with the code(s).

Counterfeit item goes in counterfeit box, gets copied label slapped on. It then gets shipped by a scammer as a legit product to the (if you still want to give him the benefit of the doubt) unwitting half wit of a shopkeeper.

You have a fake or a really stupid scammer putting legit spinners in fake boxes.

For what you paid, isn't something like the istick a much better value these days? Seems to me that with competition from new innovations like that, the price of spinner / twist devices should likely start dropping like a rock. At least, to me, I find them to be very expensive now.

I would point this out to the shop owner if they are still giving you grief about a refund.

When I first started reading the thread, I believed that the store may have been deceived. And that's still possible. But regardless of whether they are in on the scam or not, their customer service was horrible.

If it were me, I'd make one more attempt. I'd go in person, take the item, the box, the receipt, etc, and I'd ask to talk to the owner or the manager. I'd ask for a refund or a replacement with a legit item. If they offer a replacement, I'd check that code while I'm there in the store, with them standing beside me.

And if they didn't refund or give me an acceptable replacement, then they would lose my business forever and I'd be posting the name of the store and warning friends to avoid them.

Sorry for your experience, I worked PT for a B&M up till about 2 months ago, when it started interfering with my full time gig, and I ruptured a disk that is pressing on my sciatic nerve. On short term disability at the moment.
Anyway, my time there really opened my eyes on the cost of running the store and the nightmares from dealing with China on QC issues, receiving great orders a few months in a row and then have a shipment of clones arrive from a trusted supplier withou realizing that they sent clones. It's frustrating for the store as well when you sell 100 batteries and in 2 months you have 35 of them come back with issues.
I do feel from dealing with similar things that the store should have had you come in so could inspect the item to validate your claim, your future business is important and word of mouth is a powerful thing.
Best of luck,
Wing
