Should have my RM2 by Friday. Can't wait to play with it. I know most of you guys have grands, Just wondering what to expect as far as performance. I'm assuming battery life is going to be the big difference on the 14500 batts? What should i expect? Any more prone to leakage? Should i be doing the coils any different then the micro tutorials seen on the forum recently? Higher resistance maybe?

Will the RM2 fit my mini as well/tightly as a grand?

As always, thank, you guys rock.

The RM2 rocks plain and simple no it will not leak.. as long as the top section is snugly secure. You'll get lots of great folks on here raving about micro coils but for my preference the tutorial on robs site works best for me just five somewhat sloppy wraps of my kental 30ga and cotton ball wick gives me what I'm looking for. I've tried the micro coils just not my preference maybe I'm doing it wrong but the sloppy method seems to make me happy!

Either way you end up your going to love your RM2!

I'd keep the resistance between 1.0 and 1.5 ohms with a micro-coil. That should give you the most longevity out of that battery without sacrificing vapor or flavor. And if you use 30 awg wire the voltage drop won't be too severe (this, of course, depends more on the batteries internal resistance but every little bit helps). I wouldn't go any bigger than 28 awg.

I didn't even realize Rob had a vid on the site. Just watched. That looked downright easy. I'll def try both!

I ordered every gauge Rob had on the site :D

no expert here, but i *think* i've read that Rob needs to mill the RM2 to fit an original mini

you may want to PM redeyedancer

Yea, i had read that Rob had some non-milled, but going forward they would all be milled further down. I did ask for him to mill it and or send a milled one in the comments of the order.

I have minis and my coils meter about 1.7-1.8 using 30g. Works just fine with no worries. Battery life at that resistance isn't any different than using a carto.

Great! I don't even mind a bit shorter batt life. I only vape about 1.5 mls a day(though i have a feeling that may increase :D ) I have like 7 14500's and my Reo is the only thing that uses them. So even if i cut my life in half, no worries. I'm thinking of starting off at like 1.4. I take 2 batts to work with me now and am fine....what's one or 2 more.

I can't wait. Just recently cleaned and redid my contacts on my Reo and it still blows anything else i have out of the water using cartos. Really looking forward to pushing it to the limits.

Of course as i had predicted it would, i want a grand even more now........

You guys are awesome. Thank you again.

safety-wise, strictly speaking, you want to keep your coils at or above 1.1Ω. The 14500 is rated @ 4A Max. Continuous Discharge.

This is so important!!!! The larger AWs have much higher Max CD.

I mostly use Mini 1 (14500) and Mini 2.xs with 1.5 ohm range atty/carto. As long as you keep the resistance in the 1.5ish range you shouldn't see much, if any, difference in battery if you are used to 1.5 attys/cartos. There is a big difference between battery use time in 14500 and 18490, though. When I leave the house, for hours, with Mini 1.0 I usually throw four spare batteries in a case (all of my 14500 batteries are at least a year old which does reduce usable time), but only carry one spare 18490 battery when I'm out with Mini 2.x.

Edit: original mini

BTW... I get significant leaking into well with my oldest Mini 2.0, using RM2, unless I use an o-ring in well and crank it down a little tighter than I normally do with others. I hate having to use an o-ring because I forget and lose them. But with the RM2 I take it off of REO much less frequently than with other attys/RBAs as once I get the coil just perfect (becoming more and more often) I only take the RM2 off when I want to thoroughly clean it in hot water, about once a week. But I keep the coil on and just do a dry burn and rewick every day or two. At same time I rinse cap, with DT attached, in hot water and scrub chap-stick gunk off, and dry with pinky finger and kleenex into cap which removes some additional juice gunk, while coil is cooling from dryburn. It's amazing how a quick clean of cap and DT help to keep juice taste fresh.

My micro-coils, using 30 ga Kanthal, could possibly last longer than the usual 4 weeks but it takes so little time to recoil, why not.

{edit} I've been taking them off more frequently past week as I'm trying some juices that have been in cooler, for up to two years, that I didn't like back then, and still don't like. And they contaminate the flavor of my usual juices via getting into the cap o-ring, tubing, etc. So I've been taking RM2s off more and soaking them in alcohol, after a boil, along with bottles, caps, o-rings, and a bottle, sans o-ring, attached to cap and tube, filled with alcohol, for hours. Sounds excessive but when I don't like a juice I really don't like it. One 6ml bottle, I figured out, had been the one used by DH carrying olive oil, not for vaping use, and it contaminated all parts of REO, RM2 with the olive oil flavor even after thorough cleaning of all. I do love olive oil but it is a terrible vape. I found that out when I lubed the Hornet o-rings using it. I boiled as many parts as possible, soaked in alcohol, vinegar, and enzyme cleaner and still got the olive oil contamination. Terrible Terrible. Bottle in trash. DH carried the olive oil for use on a scaly spot on his face. My mistake was cleaning it and throwing it in with the rest of used REO bottles.

This is correct... Rob milled one for my mini and it performs fantastic!

I will be getting mine soon maybe by Monday it will be here :) The standard size RM2 does work good on my 14500 mini without being milled, i use the adapter from his site. But it looks funny to me. So I decided to get one made for a tiny mini.

Next time I order from RTD, I'm going to get one of these sealed adapters for testing with disposable cartos and attys without contaminating my feed tube and bottle.

I bought one some time ago to use with my voltmeter (the well on the Grand is too deep for it to reach). I was testing some juices on my Igo the other day, and the thought occurred to use it with my attys for the same reason. Works a treat, and no gunky stuff dripping down into my unflavored bottle :D
