Rockstar Vapor Great new juice vendor!

I do have an LR atty, but other than that I only have tank atties. I can check with the only other person I know that vapes if he has a regular atty I could borrow.

On a side note, I just spoke with Jason at Rockstar and he said that it might be the nicotine that some people are picking up on. The higher the nic, the stronger the weird taste and smell. He stated that the only thing they use in some of their juices is epa or epil alcohol (spelling????) which has a "rose" taste if anything, NOT a rubbing alcohol taste. I asked if they used Vodka, but they are not allowed to use that in their juices. The juices are mixed in 20 gallon batches per nic level, so chances are that it's either each person's ability to pickup on things varies, the hardware we use varies, or the nic levels are higher. At any rate, I'm DEFINITELY a Rockstar fangirl!!! Hope some of this info helps!!!

Ok. It has to be that epil alcohol. B/c what I can taste is definitely alcoholy.

Also, I wonder why the high nicotine juices I have from other vendors don't have that same taste? I have 36mg from unsmoke, mypvshop and I think I have some from voidmist. I think it has to be whatever alcohol they are putting in it. Maybe it evaporates after awhile and its out of some peoples juices when they get it. The flavors do taste and smell really good. Its just that darn "taste" I don't like.

Now, I wasn't on the phone with the guy, but Curvychick, do you think he said Ethyl alcohol? Epil and Ethyl could sound alike when chatting on the phone.

Edit: Nevermind, I read your post again, and you said he mentioned that it should not have a rubbing alcohol taste, which Ethyl is. Carry on....

It is possible he said ethyl, but if so, I think he was referring to this because he clearly stated that it smells like roses: Phenyl Ethyl Alcohol. And here is more info: More details. This is what was returned as a search for rose flavored alcohol. I guess I should have asked for a spelling of the name. He assured me that this product does not have an "alcohol" smell or taste, but one of roses and that it isn't really a noticeable odor for most. From what I've read, many vendors include the use of some form of alcohol, but because it quickly evaporates, you aren't actually inhaling large amounts of it. I'm no expert on the subject, just sharing what I remember reading during my search. If it were a grain alcohol (which I doubt because I don't think grain alcohols smell like roses), you could always leave the juice in a dark area uncapped to let it evaporate. Many vendors include the use of grain (or ethyl) alcohol for throat hit.

I was just doing some more research while typing this response, when I realized that unless you vape 100% VG, you're vaping a form of alcohol! PG or propylene glycol is an alcohol as well: Propylene Glycol. I know this doesn't explain the "weird smell" since every juice I know of has the option for PG, but just figured I'd throw that tidbit of info out there.

My hypothesis is that some people just have the ability to pick out certain flavors or smells over others. What one of us finds pleasant, another will find disgusting. While none of us fully understand the long term effects of vaping, I can say with certainty that I've had no immediate ill effects from vaping Rockstar juices, nor do I anticipate any ill side effects. I am one of those people who lack the ability to pick up on this "weird" scent or aftertaste. I will continue to stick with Rockstar because I enjoy their juice, but I completely respect those who think otherwise.

Wow, every flavor you mentioned are my favorite daily vapes! For me, banana tastes like a REAL ripe banana (vaping it as we speak at 80pg/20vg 25mg) ~~cherry cola is yummy cherry cola and coffee with cream is absolutely divine (especially when mixed with some Vanilla, Hazelnut or Caramel). I'm just really baffled because I'm not picking up ANY chemical smell on ANY bottle I've purchased. ckgjt sent me a package of juices today that I should receive in a day or 2 that were also suspected to be "chemically". Since I have yet to come across this smell or taste in any of my juices from them, if I pick up on it in the suspected bottles, then I would assume it's a bad batch. If I don't then it must just be that some of us (me not included. lol) have the ability to pick up on this ingredient and identify it with a chemical smell or taste.

I can say that one time a long while back, I remember drinking a Diet Pepsi that tasted "chemically." The entire 12 pack tasted the same way. I called the manufacturer and they explained that it was probably the way the ingredients settled. Sounds odd, but I'm no chemist, so who knows why they tasted so funny. Never had that problem since. I'm guessing if I would have shaken the cans, maybe they wouldn't have tasted funny. Which leads me to this question: Do you shake the bottle and squeeze the dropper a couple of times, then draw up the juice or do you just use what is the in the dropper already? I ask this because maybe the ingredients settle out and they're not fully mixed. Just a thought.

So far, I've tried the cherry cola (which I hated) and the coffee and cream. The coffee wasn't terrible like the cherry cola, but it's not great. I have a few other flavors to try, but I'm afraid of the banana. It has the nasty chemical smell others have mentioned. Gonna have to work up the courage to vape that one.

ETA: It's not the PG causing the odd taste, as mine are 100% VG.

I have a feeling you aren't going to find anything off with the ones I sent you since you seem to like their juices so much. I still have a little bit of the waffle left and I can still taste it in mine. But I think we both agree that some people are going to sense it and some aren't. I certainly don't think there is anything in there that will harm anyone. It's just an ingredient I do not like at all. But I never smelled anything like roses. For me more than chemical it was an alcohol taste. Like the alcohol taste in vanilla you buy at the store for baking.

I don't think it's PG since most of my juice is 100% PG that I have bought elsewhere. I don't think its the high nicotine level b/c the first 15 bottles I bought when I started vaping were all 36mg. I'm at a loss figuring it out really.

I do love their juices (wish they'd put me on payroll as a promoter LOL), but I will be completely honest if I smell or taste any chemical or alcohol odor in the ones you have sent. Like you, I also don't believe that there is anything harmful in the juice, just that you're one of those people who is turned off by this ingredient and I'm one that doesn't notice it. I've never tasted or noticed an alcohol taste in vanilla extract, so you're probably right, I won't notice anything in them, but it's worth a shot to see. I will only drop a few drops out of each bottle and then I would be happy to ship them back to you if you'd like. Maybe will get to the bottom of this, maybe we won't. Who knows?? Yeah, I tried shaking it up and squeezing the dropper out several times. The strawberry waffle flavor smells okay (I haven't tried vaping it yet), but I don't know how I'm going to get past the smell of the banana. Ugh. I don't know what it is...doesn't seem likely that I got a bad batch of several different flavors...maybe like someone suggested, it's just something that some of us pick up and others don't? *shrug*

I placed an order...time will tell if it's worth it. I ordered coffee/w cream, french vanilla, pomegranate, mango peach, and white chocolate. 80/20 18mg.

The goofy underlying taste could also be from the nic they are using. Different vendor's nic base tastes different to me.

The mango peach was fantastic! I just wish all the others tasted so good. It does seem as if they loose some of their "chemical" flavor over time. I revisited the grape after letting it sit for a while and it has gotten better.

Well, steeping two weeks now and the the verdict is in:

Was hoping the Coffee and Cream would blend a bit after 2 weeks but it is still bitter, but to give it some small credit it is coffee although there is a chemical harshness there still.

The Peach Mango is good, the only really vapeable one out of 5.

Did get brave enough to try the Creamy Caramel that I thought the stench had dissipated a bit in (okay my daughter dared me) and all I can say is that it is as nasty as ever, perhaps more so. And the vapor smells awful and chemically, even my daughter commented on it. My tastebuds may never forgive me, and I can't say I blame them.

As for the 2 bottles of Fruit Stripe and Tasty Tobacco, the toxic stench endures and has strengthened. Truly scary. Keep waiting for those to eat through the glass bottles.

Gave them another week after reading the almost over enthusiatic comments here about how wonderful these juices really are. Ambrosia and yada yada. I have been vaping for a more than a few months now and have bought from many vendors, some I liked, some I didn't. But that had to do with flavorings and the mixing portions, purely personal and subjective. Have been making my own juices lately too and have never encountered this rancid taste or smell at all, home made or otherwise.

These noxious mixtures are being dumped down the drain pronto. The drain in my bathtub has been running slow lately, I am thinking about dumping them there, the way they smell they might be even more effective than Draino.

Pretty expensive Draino too..lesson earned will never order from them again and in the future I will be more wary of "new" vendors that it turn out are not "new" at all.

I'm fairly certain that you are referring to my "over enthusiastic" comments. I'm THRILLED that I have found my go to vendor. I've only been vaping for a little under 2 months now and have spent a small fortunate trying to find which vendor could fulfill my picky needs. Sure, I've liked plenty along the way, but they're either too expensive, too thick, or I really only care for one of their flavors. Rockstar has been the only vendor where their juice is cheap, yummy, and thin enough for my tank setup. I apologize if my enthusiaism has caused you to purchase "expensive Draino", but you do have option of posting these for sale in the classies to recoup some of your money. There are more people that like Rockstar juices than don't like them, so you don't have to pour them down the drain.
