Rookie vaper with an 808. Should I get a tank or save up for a real set up?

I started out on an 808D and I love it but realized you get so many more options with the 510 charger. The 520 and the e/GOs etc. I have only tried this one set up. Are tank superior? I would think vaping straight juice would be more flavor. Then, do I even put any more money in my rookie set up or find what my real go to ecig is going to be? I tend to want to expand what I got first but then I think, why do that if I'm going to want something else in a couple months. I'm trying to do this on a low budget but obviously not smoking will free up some money. Down to a pack a week From a pack every day or two when I first started vaping. GOin for smoke free real soon! ANyway,

I guess the question for the veterans is: If you had it to do over, how would you go about getting equipment? Keep what you got until you have a problem? Seek the best set up right away? Start small and build? Quit asking questions and just vape?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

It's different for everyone. I myself wouldn't have bought a provari if I hadn't first tried and ego and got accustomed to myself vaping (I started with an ego, skipped the cig look-a-like). The provari in comparison to an ego or cig look-a-like is fairly large (mainly in girth), as far as performance it's great, but I probably would have been reluctant to use one in public and would have just smoked a cig instead if it was my first PV. I know there are people who start out with a provari or other mod, to each his/her own. I will tell you though that maybe something like a KGO that can hit 3.7 volts instead of the ego 3.4 and still the same size and form factor would be pretty decent. If you think you'd be comfortable with something bigger than I can recommend the Provari's and definitely VV (variable volts), but keep in mind it's the only mod I have. There are many options out there and it's nice but it can be overwhelming. I'm sure others will chime in as well. Good luck and if you have any other questions just ask.

I'd do it exactly as I did. Bought a Megalodon cuz:
it's mechanical and less prone to breakdown
- it's 3.7 volts
- I can add a different battery and up the voltage- tried it once and it was too strong.
- I can break it down, take out a section and have a stealth PV.
- solid and quality built.
The Provari was a gift which I rarely use.
You have to ask yourself-
-do I need more out of my vaping experience- are the batts not lasting long enough? is the vapor/ TH not enough?
As for the tank I bought an add on and couldn't be more pleased. Fill it up twice per day and that's it. Cartos last 2+ weeks. Realize there are great tanks and horrible tanks out there. Mine I can lay it down, stand it up, turn it upside down...never leaks. Realize also tanks eat up the juice incredibly quick.
True 3.7 PV for less than $50.00 are Kgo and Riva. For a little more you can buy an EPower than uses inexpensive generic batteries.

The fact that you are still smoking should tell you much about what you are currently using.

At a minimum, I would move up to a Kgo, E-Power, EVO or a good, inexpensive box mod. These are all higher voltage models than an ego which is only 3.4 volts, so I would not go that route. You will see many recommendations for the ego but few ever mention they are only 3.4 volts. Even mini models are 3.7 volts. The EVO gives you a pretty good bang for the buck. It has three settings (3.7 volts. 4.5 volts and 5.0 volts). Unlike the ego VV lavatube, you can also use any atomizer or cartomizer with the EVO including dual coil cartos for warmer vapor. You can't with the lavatube.

Now I'm learnin' I was looking at a VGO. It has high voltage, it's automatic and will fit the charger I already have 12 buck investment. I don't see anybody talking about these however. Are they no good? I like the idea of warm vapor with the EVO. I hear a couple votes for a KGO at minimum though. I'll look those up right now. I like dinkin' around on the internet researching stuff so it's part of the fun for me anyway.

I'm not sure about the Vgo althought what I have read, it seems to just be an ego clone with the smaller 650 mAh battery like the eGo. If it's 3.4 volts like the ego, I would move on.

Here are some well supported suppliers of the ones I mentioned:

EVO V2 Kit (you can get this for less if you go barebones, also)

18650 Chrome E-Power Kit

KGO kit1100mAh by SLB

E-Power Replacable Battery kit!

Note: you can still use your 808 cartos with any of these, you just need to use a $3 adapter that you can get at madvapes.

LOL vendors can't keep them in stock....cost about $40.00 for the kit.
3.7 batteries
1100 mah batteries- 100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping time before recharge
manual battery means:
- less chance of damage from juice
- puts the vaper in control...if you want more hit you just hold the button down longer.

Out of 33 friends that have started vaping 27 chose the Kgo and all are very pleased. The only upgrade they've made is to purchase a tank. Have also given a bunch out through a program I run and the users love them and find them very simple to use.

Here's a review:

Most people start with a cheap setup and once they figure out if they like it then they continue and buy more stuff. First thing you want to do is determine if you will stick with the e-cig. If so, then buying a better setup will come in time. Remember: most e-cig cartridges can be refilled. So, you can buy the liquid and refill them... much cheaper..
As you go on you will eventually be mixing your own liquid.. even more cheaper!! Good luck on quiting!!

I totally agree with this. You want something that has enough power. Otherwise you will be changing batteries left and right. Its important that its something you can tweak with adapters for other size atomizers too.

The fact that you are still smoking should tell you much about what you are currently using.

Been vaping for only 30 days and already purchased a Provari, wish I'd started there, but then again I learned alot in a short time.

You say you're still smoking. One thing to consider is you may not have found the right juice yet. I smoked analogs and vaped initially, but onceI found a flavor I loved to vape it was painless to toss out the analogs.

Also possible you're not vaping a high enough nicotine content to satisfy your cravings.
Checkout ECblends, they have a lot of great flavors and they're customizable.

I got a kgo with boge cartos and i love it.had one dry burn and went and bought a tank the same day. Now im running tanks and cartos. After that dry burnt taste i can now tell when its time to top off my cartos.

Looking into VV now and its only been 2 weeks with my kgo. This kgo will always have a place in my heart... 3.7v? Long battery life? Nice compact package?? Sheesh sounds like a no brainer!!

I just got my 1st mod today and wish I had started with it. If you can afford to do it now I would just buy a mod that takes 18650 size batteries and learn with that. If you pick one out someone on here can make you a list of what you will need to go with it and what each thing is for. We love helping each other out. The main fear with jumping in head 1st IMO is not knowing what to get. Just make a post titled jumping in head 1st what do I need to get and everyone will help you get set. Heck I just saw a mock shopping cart made up in a tread the other day to help someone out with the purchase. Good luck and welcome to the ECF.

I'm not against tanks, but I would be cautious getting a tank if I was a new vaper over using cartomizers.

For every one postive recommendation for getting a tank, I read at least one or two negative comments about tanks:

wicking problems, leaking problems, plastic taste problems, less throat hit or muted taste problems.

Maybe you have to find the right tank, but there seems to be a number of issues with tanks.

I was looking at geting a tank because I'm so paranoid about a carto running out, I'm always topping it off. But I probably should the way I been vaping, I got one on the charger and one going all the time. I'm thinking it's the Kgo, I didn't hear any votes for the Ego cause of the 650 mAh I assume. I'll likely go with what I got till the 1st of the month hey, 1st of the month!
