Just got an order of 26g Royal wire by Dryx, man this stuff is amazing. Supper pliable and keeps shape great, much less spring to it than regular kanthal and a 7 wrap micro coil came out to 0.44 ohm.

Super impressed with this wire. Also noticed that the cotton balls included with the wire is much better quality than any cotton i have been able to source so far.

Anyone else try royal wire yet?

I still find it hard to believe that these small companies are popping up out of nowhere and producing some new variant of resistance wire that companies like TemCo have not come up with. How would they even go about manufacturing that? I believe most of these companies are just selling re-labeled kanthal/nichrome. There are multiple different versions of both kanthal and nichrome that use different materials and have different properties.

Also, I witnessed some royal wire literally melt while being dry fired during a coil build today... I would be careful with that.

I love how when you ask them questions the only thing they say is "it's made of different metals and it heats up faster." It never goes any further than that.

Well I suppose that can be true, so show me the proof because if I took everybody for their word I'd be broke and have a lot of useless junk laying around my house.

Like I said I am not sure what the difference is myself, I know that I built using 26g kanthal on same drill bit dual 6 wrap micro coils and they came out to 0.37 ohm than I used same drill bit to build a 7 wrap using royal wire and my dual coils and it came out to 0.22 ohm

I have played with nichrome befor but I did not see this big of a resistance difference in same gauge between nichrome and kanthal.

As far as melting I did have a coil melt while dry firing while doing a wick swap did not know this was a common occurrence.

Should not be common and is evidence of poor resistance capabilities. Fine for a 36ga wire but not in 24-28ga.
Nothing wrong with Ni-chrome in general. I use it for foam cutting, but it does have some heat stretch. All depends on the Blend of metals used to make the final wire.
No different than Variations of Brass - all good within designed intent of use.

Little Tip

You just paid about $1 per foot for Ni-chrome wire and a few cotton balls.
Yes, Ni-chrome is not as springy as Freshly spooled Kanthal A1. Pass Kanthal through a flame once and it is not springy.

Temco $5-$6.50 per 100ft roll

A blend of Kanthal and Nichrome actually work better for some vaping styles than either on their own. A fusion of the two (G-Plat) make for a great vape for those who are willing to try something different. You never know, it might not be Nichrome, if you don't try anything you'll never find out. A 7 wrap, 26ga, nichrome coil wrapped on 5/64th's would actually be higher resistance in my experience. So maybe he truly has something Temco doesn't offer (sorry Temco, I still love you.)

~I own a forge and a tiny wire-die, so I don't have to be wondering what I'm buying. :D
