Roly, it's not working. Even I get the "Page not found" when clicking the link on your most recent post.

I think I know why this is: the afflink plugin converts one or more words in my sig link to an afflink, and that scrambles the email. More work for Harry :)

[edit]
Fixed now, as I've changed my siglink to our ticket support system, which is working well now.

This is Xmas week so I don't want to push the webapp tech on this. I'll queue it for his attention in January.

Yeah I saw that and I appreciate it. I've just seen problems come and go without resolution and want to make sure this isn't forgotten plus there is a possibility that info I provide may prove useful.

Today FF received 15 post but they were current.
theoldreader.com(online reader/service) none
feedly.com (online reader/service) none

Thanks again.

Any idea where we are on this?

TheOldReader.com which is an online newsreader and what I'm currently using to sync with my phone has not shown any post from ECF since December 26 2013.

I'm almost positive the problem stems from using Sphinx Search. If ECF really cares to try and fix this I think they should contact and/or work with the devs at Sphinx.
Because of Sphinx you can't even bookmark "New Post" which some have thought would be a work-around to the RSS feed problem. But no, that doesn't work.

My monthly query and input:

In my go-to newsreader (phone) latest update:
Jan 24th, 15 post
This is synced with theoldreader.com RSS service which also displays the same Jan 24th, 15 post

Decided to "Subscribe to Page" using Firefox RSS reader and got only 15 post dated 2-09-2014.

I could be wrong but I still have a very strong suspicion that the way Sphinx-based search is integrated is causing RSS to not function properly.

I would think this would be of more importance than y'all seem to be giving it. One of the major trends in digital content delivery especially on tablets and phones are magazine type apps which utilize feeds. This trend will only grow as users who shyed away from such technical talk as RSS will love their "magazine" readers. Basically the same thing...

What ECF provided a year ago when the site's RSS was working would work well... today not so much and that's a huge lost potential.
Not to mention those of us who daily read countless ECF post in our readers no longer are able and for many like myself no longer interact or read ECF as much as we did.

Not sure what to say about this. Our vB dev says all RSS feeds are working fine.

I think the next thing we might ask people to do is subscribe to the feeds, then take a screenshot of them to see if they work or not. I have no idea who is right here until we can actually see some evidence, and this looks like the way to determine it one way or the other.

How about if you explain to people what app to use, on what device, and how to set it up, and what they should expect to see. Some will want to use different devices, so some options would be good.

Thanks.

This is not a question of right and wrong. I am a dev. Granted I don't have access to your server but I can tell you for a fact that feeds aren't working correctly.
How do I know? (and how the devs should have known reading the problem)
It's not just my devices which as a user I could screw up but it is also the two most used online reader services as well. Feedly and TheOldReader both demonstrate the same behavior as does Firefox (or any client I've used).
All obvious fixes have been tried, cache clearing, installing/reinstalling, subscribing/unsubscribing...

RSS is a fairly old technology (ten years) and there are many reader clients but as it became more common browsers started integrating.
All major browsers have some sort of way to subscribe and read RSS feeds.
So people can simply use their browsers or they can setup a free account at either

feedly: your news. delivered.
The Old Reader

I have attached screenshots from Feedly, TheOldReader and FireFox. Keep in mind these are all separate services running on separate servers. Both online services show no new feeds since Jan. 24th. The small screenshot is Firefox which shows no new feeds since 02/09/2014.

If the devs are confident RSS is working as it should could they please direct me to a client or online service that works. I don't require screenshots... just let me know which services they used that demonstrated all working as it should and I'll be glad to use that service if it hopefully syncs to my phone/tablet.
