Which way do you attach it? Why?

Obviously, both leads need to be attached to opposite sides of the posts so as to center the coil above the airhole.

But do you attach the leads to the side to which they are closer? Or to the side further from it?

It's tough to describe in words, so terrible 30 second MSPaint is included.

not sure if this will make much sense, as I find it hard to put it into words, but I like to keep the shortest possible distance to posts, and if possible I try to get contact close to the center of the deck as opposed to what you shown in the first picture. it keeps the coil at an angle, which helps in giving greater coverage for the wick at the deck. I also like to keep the direction of the wire clockwise so that the screw will grab it better. sorry, I hate trying to explain this :/

here's a pic of an old build:

Second image... but rotate the coil to the 10/4 position.

Why?
1. Screw rotation pulls the wire into the screw rather than forcing it out... when the wire is hooked around the screw head.
2. 10/4 coil placement naturally places the wick in an 'S' shape, so when you screw on the chimney... the wicks are (also) being pulled in the appropriate clockwise direction.
