Alright so I am just starting out vaping, I have purchased a vape king mechanical starter and on the side of the box it says " Bullet " it came with everything needed however I am brand new to vaping and did not understand the dangers with mechanical vs electrical.

It's been working great and came with a 2200 mAh 3.7V battery ICR and a 900mAh 3.7V battery.

Since both the mechanical vape and the batteries came from the same store, should I be worried? I have no way to check any resistance or anything, it's a beautiful vape.. I just have some concerns about charging it and keeping the battery from going crazy.

All I know is make sure not to hold down the button too long while vaping and thats pretty much it.

The people knew that I was new to vaping, they sold me this instead of electrical.. I sort of was hoping for something that I didn't have to worry about.. so since the batteries came with the device and it was just a starting mechanical vape ( with nothing added to it ) am I fine and should I be careful how long I externally charge the battery with the charger it came with?

Thanks for your time.

OP, you have a couple options here. One, you could take it back and exchange it for something that you feel more comfortable with. Or, two, you can search around here and research as much as you can about mech mods and battery safety. Hopefully someone here can link you to the right threads.

Personally, I believe a mechanical is no place for a vaper to start, considering the steep learning curve. Buuut, if you're determined, I can link you to batteries that I use.

Even though I had vaped for years, I spent over a month researching, reading and watching videos before I felt happy to start re-building and using RDAs and mechanical mods. In answer to your questions OP:- no they shouldn't have sold it to you, yes they are irresponsible and yes you are possibly in danger.

Stop vaping it.
Please provide specific models and pictures of the equipment you have and we can try to sort out where you are.
Straight off the bat that battery probably only has a 5 amp limit, so unless the coil in your atomizer is above 1ohm you are probably already pushing your luck.

Sorry guys internet sucks still uploading pictures from email, anyway these are sigelei batteries and a sigelei charger.. the funny part is I had an electric vape in my hand and a mechanical vape in the other and asked them which is better for people starting, they said they are the same.

The charger is some standard external charger starts with a tiny red let then goes green when it's ready. I don't have any type of battery testers or anything else, this is it. The batteries have been working fine so far but I'm not too pleased after googling mechanical why these people sold me mechanical instead of electronic.

Pictures incoming soon

I hate that the vape shop was more concerned over a sale than they were concerned over your well being. But now that you have it, there are always people here that can help you. The best place to start is reading here on ecf.

Read, learn and ask questions until you are comfortable with the mod you have now. Good luck to you.

One, you could take it back and exchange it for something that you feel more comfortable with.

Honestly, that would be my recommendation too. Mechs are not for beginners; many experienced vapers don't use mechs either, come to think of it--I don't. See if they carry something more suitable for a new vaper, like Innokin MVP 20, Eleaf iStick 30 or Heatwave Defender 25W. Those are so much easier to use and much safer. You want a good quality regulated (variable voltage/variable wattage) device. Then get a couple of good toppers--Kanger Aerotank, Emow, Eleaf GS Air tank.

Good luck! And always do your research before you buy an e-cig. We're here to help.

It literally took 1 hour to upload one picture because my internet and then this uploader said file was too large... very depressing.

Regardless it is a mechanical vape as said before, it has slits that go up the battery compartment for venting, the button is near the bottom component which I believe is fairly standard with mechanical.

Other than that the only thing I know is the charger is a sigelei charger with model number mtlc-0420-1000

I am fairly angry because I drove 1 hour for this, but I am going back may 3rd and will have them replace it if they will. I won't be able to replace the cartomizers or atomizer but that's a loss i'm willing to take and have no clue if they would work with an electronic or not.

The other one I was looking at was what appeared to be an electric because it had a screen on it and it had settings that were 1 - 5 i believe or 1 - 6, I think these settings were for how much smoke will pull through.. the only weird thing is I believe that vaporizer too had an external battery charger.. so instead of pluggin the vaporizer directly to the wall, you removed the battery and then just charged the battery separately.. which I didn't expect to be the case with electronic vaporizers.. and I don't know if it would make a difference or not.

I wanted to ad that the atomizer / cartomizer is just that standard clear plastic basic one

Anyway it's the only vaporizer store within 100 + miles, so I have little choice. They have hundreds of great E-liquid to choose from which I enjoyed, but I don't like that a lot of their vaporizers you have to charge the battery seperate. If anyone knows what i'm talking about please feel free to jump in, also I am writing down all advice. Thanks katya and all.

the cartomizer / atomizer ( the part that I fill with the liquid ) is just the standard thin plastic clear one that seems to come with the standard vape.. so it doesn't seem that demanding

This pretty much looks exactly like the atomizer / cartomizer ( i believe they are called. ) found the picture online though ( uploading seems impossible )

The only difference is that 1 of mine looks exactly like this and the other looks exactly like this but just about 1 inch longer and the people at the vape store called it upgradable or something like that and called the one in this picture disposable after a few weeks.

Can't find the picture of the mechanical

The biggest issue is your batteries. Now, I don't know anything about the Sigelei charger, but the batts probably have a low CDR (continuous discharge rate). Ideally, you'll want something with a higher CDR (20-30 amps). This allows you to safely use/build to lower ohms if need be. This goes for regulated (electronic) mods as well. Only purchase batteries and chargers from reputable vendors, never Amazon or Ebay (unless you know 100% they're legit).

I feel for you, man.

Its a clearomizer. Basically, an atomizer inside of a tank. Do you know the resistance/ohms of your clearo?

I appreciate your response, I don't know the resistance / ohms at all and I mistakenly just assumed that because it came with the mechmod that it had to be suited perfectly for it and they knew what they were doing.

They knew I was new because I told them, and plus I blame myself for not being prepared.

However I did notice that vapirorizer with the screen on it I mentioned before, it had that clearomizer on it too but the screen lit up and had settings going through 1 - 5 I think for resistance setting..

but since I had you here I wanted to ask if it made sense that the vaporizoer with the screen / resistance setting on it had the same type of battery / external battery charger that this mechmod had. Would that vape be considered safe to exchange this mechmod for? It was the same cost

I always pictured plugging an electrical vape right into the wall, not the battery itself.

Thanks again

I wanted to add that my goal is to just find an electrical vape that is fill and smoke easy, I don't really want to worry about ohms or battery venting or anything.. I've smoked for over 6 years now and it has to be simpler for me if I'm ever going to quit smoking myself to death on cigs. I'm assuming ( or hoping ) every electrical vape is that easy.. or maybe i'm fooling myself lol ( Eventually I'll get into all that as I get more advanced but just my first vape my hope is to go for simple )

So much is making sense now.

The 1-5 or 1-6 is probably to adjust for voltage. I recommend regulated devices to anyone at any experience level. Its safer and more customizable.

Your resistance is measured in ohms. I did a quick search for CE4 clearomizer and the picture you posted looked similar to what I found. The resistance is fairly high at 2+ ohms. If your battery had a 5 amp limit then its safe to fire.
Disclaimer: I do not recommend using ICR batteries for anything vaping related. Research your batts and find out their limitations. Look for amperage.

With all of that said, its an old school setup.

Edit: I just want to add this. Do what you're comfortable with. I personally prefer removable batteries. This is so I can swap out batts and keep vaping instead of the entire unit being out of commission for a charge.

There are several regulated mods out there which take external batteries - some have the option to charge them inside the device but I think people tend to remove them and charge them in dedicated chargers.

Vamo and Sigelei are examples of regulated mods that have external batteries.

Isticks and MVPs have built in batteries that cannot be removed and the device is plugged in via USB.

(There are loads of other examples out there I just picked a couple of popular ones).

Hope this helps

I just wanted to ask upon my arrival back on the 3rd of may, what type of things should I specifically look for in regards to safer regulated devices?
I ask because I don't trust these people at all now so I want to come prepared, I don't care if I get big smoke clouds as long as it is a safe reliable smoke with peace of mind.

Thanks again
