This should be interesting. Dr's Etter and Bullen are on the record as being for e-cigarette use. Of course, we all know the type of misrepresentation that Glantz, Talbot and Williams are guilty of.

A little more research indicates this isn't going to be pretty. The "Advisors" that TRDRP lists that have weighed in on e-cigarette use are on record for all out bans. So we have an agency that's against e-cigarette use stacking the panel with known zealots who will do their best to muddy the waters with misinformation and lies.

Since Etter and Bullen are knowledgeable about e-cigarette use by smokers (but neither are American), that's probably why they were invited and what they're presentations will focus on.

But since Talbot, Williams and Glantz have all greatly exaggerated the risks of e-cigs and e-cig vapor, they'll likely claim that even if e-cigs are effective for smoking cessation, their use should be banned wherever smoking is banned.

I suspect that Glantz will invite Sen. Corbett and other CA legislators to attend this event in order to lobby them to enact Corbett's bill to ban e-cig use in all workplaces. That's the real goal of this event.

Since it is a "panel discussion" is there any chance that Etter and/or Bullen would refute the garbage that I assume Talbot and Glantz will present?

One can only hope, But with half the panel being anti-tobacco zealots and Gantz being a discussant, I'm seeing this as an attempt to discredit research that shows the harm reduction in electronic cigarettes.
