Is appears to be an issue, as I have seen several charred pictures of carto filler that scar my mind and prevent me from trying it. Anyone with success stories?

If you use a tank system you can avoid this. It will keep the carto wet enough to prevent scortching. The problem with plain carto is the 6v will vape out the juice so fast it gets scorched. Carto Tank Mods I am able to vape at 6v using these tanks on a boge 3.0 (though i prefer near 5v for most juices.
Before I got my tank, and vv mod, after the initial fill, I put a drip tip on my cartos and put 4-5 drops in every half-hour or so.
Just keep it wet.
A carto at 6V is an awesome vape, but you gotta be on it all the time to keep it moist. 6V uses a LOT of liquid.

there are a few companys know that make high voltage cartos for 6 volt and up but I have know idea what they use for filler
You just keep them wet and don't carry on vaping if the flavor / vapor goes down, keep topping up the filler, i've used Boge cartos ever since they came out, i've ripped a few of mine apart and even though the wick sleeve and a bit of the filler is a different color from heat on some parts, it's not burnt. I KNOW when i've vaped polyfill it's the most disgusting taste ever LOL, time to say goodbye to that carto there's no fixing them when you get to that point.
