Ok the reason I designed it so it would not pull the liquid back in to the main bottle is because of contanination (ie burnt old juice) If you happen to run it dry and squeeze where does the nasty juice go? this way if you over fill you can remove the drip tip and dump the excess. And if you run into a situation where the juice is burnt contaminated you can remove the top and do a quick rinse. I do think it is possible to add a SS wick in but I would also add some other wick at the base to help keep it wet.
Thoughts?

Until I bought a ProVari and completed the ScubaGen v3 build I used a bottom fed 510 box mod for over a year and never had an issue with contaminated juice flowing back into the bottle. I use a 3ml bottle with SS tubing from the bottom of the bottle to just inside the atty. The tubing I bought fits very snug through the squeeze tip and up through a whole drilled in the plastic cap.
Do different setups have an issue with backwash? My main issue was flooding and having the juice leak out the bottom of the atty and down the box.
