Dan,

I had quite an interesting experience with the gennie wick. I decided to roll a mesh very thin and only one layer thick. 0.75mm diameter with a single layer of S/S. Was not easy. Anyway, I bent in a U shape almost like your twisted coil. The capillary seems to work much better and off course you can get a whole lot more turns of nichrome / kanthral around it for your ohms. So far I'm impressed with the result. Good clean taste. Good TH. Lots of smoke. (No flames yet though)....

Cool will give it a try!
I have been going smaller on the DSU wick size, will try smaller :)

Teach, if that's what I think I'm seeing, I would hesitate to vape that... It looks to me like you made yours out of acetal rod, aka delrin... I think whats happening is the coil gets really hot and the plastic is outgassing and yep, it burns the gas... I have a delrin scubagen right here that exhibits the same phenomena and im thinking it might not be the healthiest thing to vape.

I kept a close eye on the delrin... it was getting warm, but I backed it off. The flame was the VG from the wick. Might be interesting to see how far it would go though... hhmmm fire!

I don't think its plastic fumes, though it could be. I think all the ones that are doing this are a little bit off. I have 1 scubagen that I can fire repeatedly just as long as I want with the top off. That one vapes perfect. And then I have the FireGen. I'm still troubleshooting but I think its a) a short or b) the wire is not connected to the posts tightly enough. My ohmmeter isn't working so I have to get a new one to continue working on it. I don't think it is simply overvoltage as I'm at 4V with 5 wraps, same as I'm running the good one.

There are 2 differences in my setups that I know for sure. Firegen is running 70% VG, non-FireGen 30% VG. non-Firegen, springs and thus connections are very tight, FireGen, springs are not very tight. I'll work to bring them closer to the same setup and see what happens after I get some ohms readings.

I did have an extra coil or two on that one - and 100%VG.

Got a little issue myself... 2 wraps, shows 6ohms! I did notice I have a post thats a little loose, could that cause it? I have checked for shorts and everything is perfect. I am using 32ga Kanthal, 400 SS Mesh...M1.6 screws for the posts.

How many Ohms do you get when you measure a 12" piece of Kanthal 32?

You should get a reading of ~14 Ohms.

Whew, got the two new parts turned and threaded! installed the oring and it gives me perfect resistance when turning the air adjustment. I should have it finished this weekend. Will do a video explaining the parts in more detail.
ALSO... I should get my parts in for my lathe today :) new jacobs chuck for the tailstock, new bits and a knurling tool!!! YAY me
Now I will be able to knurl the various parts.

Ah yes... knurling... a whole NEW level of frustration!

Dan is there anything else you need for your lathe? Perhaps I have extras of something you need... I have a ton of tooling!

Well now you offer LOL, I just ordered a 5/8 jacobs chuck. Already have the JT3 adapter for it. Well PM me what you want to get rid of :) Right now I just reached my comfort level of the things I despritly needed to basic stuff.

Okay it seems that the loose post was the issue. Tweaked it a bit and now it dumps out TONS of smooth vapor with 3 wraps. I'm not getting much flavor, but I think that is because I am stuck using a box mod that only gives me 3.3v loaded voltage, and I'm used to 5.7v...

Glad to hear you've figured it out. :)

I've been using my eGo batteries to run my Genisis atty.

It doesn't seem like you need much more voltage than that to run the genisis atty with 3~4 wraps.

my scuvagen3 has been running over a week now, got lots of build-up on coil, its wicking great!, decided to clean off all that gunk on coil and mesh, didnt want to take apart to do it, so , the ohms are 2.0.
So i put it on my 5v box mod and hit the button till the coils burner off all that build-up of, build-up gone, sorta dry burned it but not much.got it a little red.
Put it back on riva batt, at 4.1 volts, and ,,,,,,BAHM!! plumes of Vapor,, alot better now. was useing nutty caramel very dark..
