I have gotten the look but never had anything said to me. I try not to vape around other people in a public place. I feel it is common courtesy, no different then when I was smoking cigs.
I've been told not to. So, I just stopped vaping in front of people. I'm not even allowed to have it at work. Even if it's turned off. My supervisor threatened to write me up. When I told her it wasn't in the employee handbook, she had it added. That was 2 years ago.

That's rough, close my door, crack the window and vape away. I got a cool boss though.

A few recent studies have shown that second hand vapor (not smoke) has no adverse effects to bystanders.

Arm yourself with knowledge and links saved on your smartphone (if applicable) and if accosted regarding vaping, be a steward to our community.

Also, be respectful of others who may not be willing to accept your choice. I'm a vaper and may prefer not to be clouded-out with strawberry creme vapor sometimes, too.
Thanks so much for your research input, I like hearing information about vaping and the information on what cigarette companies are saying about it. The latest I've heard was the vaping industry reached billions on dollars in the states and the FDA is wanting to shut it down, Just like way back when the electric car became available they shut it down but brought it back several year later. control, control, control

People "tell" me things all the time.
My chronic insubordination requires I make my own decisions.
Sometimes I tell them to "Magic word" -off or use the equivalent finger/hand gesture.

cheers
I
I wonder when in life the middle finger became the hand gesture for the F-word, I admit when I was young every other word was the f-word but these days I don't see a need for it

I have been told by people that I was with that they did not want me to vape in Places that it was allowed... This was back in the day before vaping was mainstream and it shocked most people. I was considerate and discrete. As Vaping grew more and more popular I still keep in on the down low or don't do it at all in places that the policy's are not set, but more then likely will be banned. There is nothing more upsetting then seeing someone chucking clouds in a hospital, school or family restaurant. It only takes one jackball to ruin it for everyone. There is a time and place, Lets vape respectfully.

I can think of a GREAT MANY things more upsetting. I hope that's the most upsetting thing you ever have to witness.

I don't think that you understand the context Andria. I agree, there are many things far more disturbing. However when one is blatantly disturbing others they are setting a bad rap for all the other vapers out there. Especially when we have more to loose the the majority. Just saying.

as andria said ... its not smoke ( well unless you really toast your wick)... and when they approach me with that idea in their mind... I simply say.. " I'm not smoking" and I agree with you...... they take on this look of confusion and walk away...

that's because they are confused

I agree it's common courtesy not to blow vapor around people because unlike most here they do not understand anything about vaping. I have talked with many people about vaping and you would be surprised what I have been told. My favourite is that vaping is more harmful than smoking, or that nicotine is illegal. It is up to each of us to educate non vapers, but I believe the message is slowly getting out there, the Brit's have finally come around because of the government study done recently.
but its okay for "them" to .... burp in ones close proximity "because its a natural thing that happens".... there are more toxic chemicals in a ".... burp" than in vapor from a device that uses Ejuice....

Absolutely. Been vaping about 2.5 years now and have gotten dirty looks from many. I sneak it in the grocery when no one is looking.
go to Walmart... in the Cerial (sp) isle and vape... there will be several others there too... the FrootLoops hide the vape smell

I just look at em and try and explain it's not smoke there's nothing harmful in it and others say I'm a mobile air freshener most people I know still smoke to. Makes me chuckle thinking about it.....stings my eyes......... r u sure!!!

lol stings my eyes -- that's a good one --- I wonder how many other exotic excuses we will hear?
