A story...up at the cottage there's an elderly lady with terrible health issues from analogs. She smokes in her house but refuses to allow me to vape in her home. The funny thing is when I saw her 2 weeks ago she and her hubby said I looked great/ 10 yrs younger LOL. It's her property and I have no problem respecting her wishes. She's a retired RN and her daughter is an RN. They are both very anti- vaping

I've had people tell me sound waves from their kids' loud music was "resetting their heart rate" ...... hey, who knows, stranger things have happened.

I used to ride to the gym with a neighbor- very nice, intelligent woman except when the subject of food and health came up. Then we were on the last train to crazytown. She told me they stopped taking her son to a doctor because her husband the electrician knew more than doctors because he wasn't encumbered by a medical school education -words to that effect. I guess google is the new med school. I wanted to jump out of the moving car.

Unless your exhaling directly into your daughters mouth, I doubt if it's an issue. How long does she think this nicotine lingers in the air?

No clue -- she just says it is too new and not much is known, and that she had to sit through me smoking around her when she was little and now that she is grown up she doesn't have to.

One of my friends doesn't allow vaping in her house. I'm wondering if there is any reason, other than personal preference, for that.

If it matters, caffeine and nitrates give her palpitations, and she's a R.N. She knows what she's talking about, if it involves nursing experience.

My guess is, her decision making is circumstantial in nature; She associates it with smoking and has made a judgment about it. I have serious doubts that her career choice (and/or experience) has anything to do with it.

What does/doesn't take place in her home is her choice, no doubt. I personally would never even bring it up with her - ever.

Kinaboloo made a great post about this

While smoke is loaded with toxins, including radioactive polonium, vaping has very few. While the risk is not zero, it is incredibly small by the time of dilution into the general air.

Nothing can be declared 'safe' - there's no such thing. Even vitamins, which are essential to good heath, are double edged; that's just the way it is. Oxygen is the main cause of aging, leading us eventually to fatality as the body is weakened (repair can never be perfect).

There are emissions from factories, cars, power stations, volcanoes, weapons, kitchens, ... that dwarf the intake of second-hand vapor.

It's just a matter of putting it in perspective.

People also exhale toxins in their respiration and as a result of digestion. Then there are perfumes and deoderants and cosmetics, etc., all releasing stuff into the air. Nobody is blameless.

Well, I love my Mom's point of view. She would never allow anyone to smoke in her house, and I respect that, always went outside. Now that I am vaping, she has no problem with it. She even enjoys the smell, and tries to figure what flavor it is for the day.
She's my biggest supporter in my switch to a PV from analogs.

Even worse than webMD is people trying to get "free medical advice" my brother is an eye surgeon and he gets people asking about all sorts of things NOT related to eyes- its got to be so annoyin. No, I don't want to check out your boil, I'm trying to shop for groceries at the moment...

I had a lady ask me about her annual female exam results while I was shopping in the commissary in Italy ...... produce section ..... no lie!!!

Two separate issues:

Her house, her rules. I don't allow praying in my house, ya know? Interferes with my cell phone reception.

Second thing- her reasons for it. Well...do you have the kind of relationship where you let her get away with talking BS? Or the kind of relationship where you call each other on it when you hear it?

If you'd let her spew BS on some other topic, no reason to call her on this, particularly.

But personally- if you don't vape in her house and she still spouts nonsense on vaping, I'd talk to her about it.

est,

Ande
