I have a "private" face book account accessible to friends and family only, but I put the link and appeal there anyway.

Yeah, I hope its not that close, but you never know. I've started watching how many people sign it each day, and I guess I've gotten a little worried. At this point, I'm not sure how much good this petition will do, but it could hurt our cause if it fails. I can hear people saying "Apparently nobody cares about this issue. They couldn't even get 25,000 signatures on an online petition.".

We'll just have to make sure to keep bumping it a few times every day.

I don't want to be a downer, but even if enough signatures are gathered by the deadline, the Obama administration could just ignore it. There are several of these petitions that have reached the goal within the Whitehouse's own "Terms of Participation", and that was it. No response, no acknowledgement, no nothing. By their own stated terms, they are supposed to reply to completed petitions within 30 days. If it's not politically expedient, they will just ignore it.

Hopefully, that won't be the case here.

Well, I'm hoping it will draw some kind of response because it is tied directly to pending political decisions. Petitions of little (or absolutely no) validity have received attention, I'm hoping they'll at least look at it seriously.
