Do you mean the impact here in this community of having completed the petition?
Or do you mean the impact the petition itself will have on future FDA actions?
Actually, the question had to do with what many are wondering.
1. What will they do with the information gathered?
2. Are they really interested?
3. What impact in their decision making process
or ... is it just assumed the upcoming Demon Regulations
were chiseled in stone a long time ago??

Probably didn't say that right ... but you understand

If you're wondering what impact it will have on their decision-making process...
Then I'm guessing it was more of a rhetorical question.
:D

Obviously, we don't know, but there are many who will say it will have no impact whatsoever in that regard.
There are also people that believe it could very well have some impact.

Personally, the only person on this forum whose opinion I would bother listening to is Bill Godshall.
Perhaps he will chime in at some point.
:)

This is the response we got before... it's likely very similar to the one we'll get this time:

Exerpts:
E-cigarettes may contain ingredients that are known to be toxic to humans or otherwise harm public health -- for example, if they are attractive to young people and lead kids to try other tobacco products, including conventional cigarettes, which are known to cause disease and lead to premature death.

Make no mistake, the Obama Administration shares your concern about the public health risks associated with cigarette smoking and is committed to helping Americans quit. Cigarette smoking poses a serious public health risk to our Nation, accounting for about one-third of all cancers, including 90 percent of lung cancer cases. On average, adults who smoke die 14 years earlier than nonsmokers. Nonsmokers exposed to secondhand smoke at home or work increase their risk of developing heart disease by 25 to 30 percent and lung cancer by 20 to 30 percent. A 35-year-old man who quits smoking will, on average, increase his life expectancy by 5 years.

As someone who is clearly engaged on this issue, we also want to make sure you know about the Great American Smokeout, the American Cancer Society's nationwide campaign to encourage smokers to make a plan to quit.

Also notice who wrote the response:

Dr. Lawrence R. Deyton, M.S.P.H, M.D. is Director of the Center for tobacco Products at the FDA.

"While we appreciate your interest in keeping e-cigarettes and accompanying 'e-juice' available as an alternative to tobacco smoking products, we still believe that understanding the physiological effects of these products is required in order to properly regulate them. Your safety is of our utmost importance. Therefore, until we can conduct about 10 years of redundant studies (on already-researched ingredients) at your expense, e-juice cannot reasonably be sold except from licensed providers and upon prescription only. Once we have established a safe formula and removed all flavorings that might appeal to children, we will allow e-cig products to be sold at a highly taxed rate in order to recoup the losses of sales for our friends in major tobacco companies. We hope you understand that we know what's best for you and always will. Nevertheless, it's really cute how you got so many people to sign that petition! Kudos!"

Nothing about how the corrupt FDA operates is off topic in this forum.
In fact, we need to get all of the people who are being screwed by the FDA together and fight as one.
I've often thought about what would happen if all those
being screwed by the FDA would unite ... brings a smile to my face !!
