Thanks everyone for the warm response and all the Thanks. The funny part is I had no plans to quit this week. I went to the doctor last week and got a 6 week prescrition for the patch plus I bought the 2 mg gum. My planned stop smoking day was going to be Jan 5th 2015. This would have been my 4th or 5th official attempt at quiting. I'm taking my first trip to a smoke shop on Saturday to hopefully learn a few things, closest one to me is over an hour away.

I do get very sudden cravings for a cig but they are short lived and just basically out of old habits. All the alcohol, food, and football games for the next couple of days will be a challange as well. Not that I indulge in those kind of things :toast:

I've been smoking 45 cigs a day for 35 years, tried several times to quit with patches, gum, drugs, therapy/counceling.... with no luck. Got my starter kit yesterday morning, read the directions, put it together and haven't touched an analog in 36 hours. Actually have no desire to smoke. Doesn't sound like much but it really is a big deal.

A lot of us understand exactly what that experience is like.
That's why we try to spread the word to other smokers.

Like you, I can't believe how easy it's been.

I didn't set a quit date, but toyed with idea of quitting at the beggining of summer. Of course I kept putting it off.

I bought my vaping starting kit and decided to start when I finished my current carton. When I finished my carton I took out the vape and haven't skipped a beat. It's been 12 days now and I'm thrilled.

It really is a big deal. Congrats. My neighbor was well into his third month of vapin', and that sparked my interest. Well one day, instead a buying another pack o' nails, I bought an eGo starter kit. It was out of its package and in use before I left the shop. I haven't had a cigarette, or a crave for one, for the past 93 days, 8 hours, and 45 minutes. I did smoke a cig a month and a half ago with a buddy. I did toke it a few times, but it was basically just hangin' out of my mouth, so it went out, when I went to relight it I just had to ask myself, "Why?". It did taste good, but I just went back to my eGo.

Again, Congrats. You will have a greater New Year, I guarantee. (my opinion though :2cool: )

I have 13 packs left, that's what it was going to take to get to the 5th.

I was at 21 years, and I picked up an eGo twist and a Nautilus, on a whim on a random Friday on my lunch break. Finished the last cigarette in a pack as I pulled up the the shop, with 3 more packs waiting in the car. Ended up giving the packs away, and have been good for over 2 months now. I also made the spreadsheet, but I'm so far in the red right now that I almost wish I hadn't. My word, this is one fun hobby, and can get expensive if you let it. Congrats, and look forward to the day when your first thought when getting into a nic fit does not, in any way, involve wanting a cigarette over a vape. It's a strange and delightful feeling.

Cayenne, I still after 17 mos. have two full sealed cartons in my cupboard and only a post like this one reminds me I've still got them. Don't know why I don't toss them. They've got to be stale. Maybe a security blanket thing. Anyway, just because you have cigarettes left doesn't mean you have to smoke them. Maybe give a pack out to those who bum a cig or toss in a fire pit to thank the "vapor gods" for showing you the "way".......Hm-m-m-m-m :p

It's a nice thing to give them to the homeless. Many have done that here. Yeah, took me over 3yrs. to throw away my last pack, definitely a security blanket thingy.
