I got a 510 a week ago, and don't get me wrong it is great when compared to an analog any day, but, topping it off every 3 or 4 "drags" gets kind of annoying. Sometimes I have to drive to different branches around a couple of states (I work in IT). I was hoping I could fill up a cart and it would at least last me the two or three hours it takes me to get to a branch.
From what I am gathering from this thread the VK would have done that for me. Is that right? If so, that kinda sucks. The missus isn't too keen on the idea of me buying another PV after just buying one ;) Ahh well, I might revisit the conversation with her in a month or so...
Till then I bought Mint nobacco, and the caramel mocha frapaccino (that is totally not how you spell that!) and the mountain do nobacco from V4L. Funny thing is I ordered the 510 on a Friday, the juice on the Wednesday after and the both got to my house on Friday. Good thing too, with the constant topping off.

A XL battery and one cartomizer lasts me all day. Sometimes at the end of the day I have to use a new carto but, I have never had my XL die on me. And I vape quite a bit. Way more then I smoked cigarettes.

How long did you use the carto before you compared the vapor output? They don't really get going at first. They develop more a little later.

The carto did produce more vapor after about 30min however with my 510 I get clouds of vapor. The vapor with the cartos is sufficient but it is not as much as the 510.

Newbie Alert!!!!

I wanted to post a new thread for advice.....but the forum shot me down!
I guess I have to wait a few days or something? I'm new to this Vaping thing and like to research things thouroughly so I've done a bunch of reading. A friend pointed me to V4L and all my reading has led me to go for it.

Ah well! I'm trying to place an order for a Ultimate Automatic Starter Kit and wanted a little advice.

1) The Cases seem to not come in black. Bums me out. I can see that the Green and possible the silver aren't bad in the pics, but I don't see platinum pictured anywhere. Does anyone know if it is a matte or shiny finish? I know it's a corny question, but hey, I'm vain! :D I also notice that Silver is listed under the individual cases but not in the kit options?

2)The XL Kit ($65)doesn't come with a case, apparently. But the website lists a case as available for $10. Does anyone know if this case is actually available yet?

3)How much longer physically is the XL compared to the regular? How often do you Vaping fiends have to charge the regular ones?

4)I see a get 5 Carts but they have to be the same flavor/strength. This is the hardest part. Being new I have no idea! I smoke 1-1.5 packs a day of Pall Mall Light 100's. I was thinking of going with 16 or 18 strength. Sound reasonable? I will probably be Vaping constantly the first few days of analog free and I don't want to Nicotine OD! What flavors are good for starters? I would think a variety pack would be better for beginners. It would suck if I ended up disliking the first flavor and turned me off right away. I hear good things about Doc Pepper(although I really don't care for the drink!), Watermelon, and Cherry. I've seen mixed reviews of the Cowboy and other Tobacco flavors. At first it would seem a Tobacco flavor would be better for going analog free though.

Anyway....sorry for sticking this here....but I really wanted to ask these things before I go ahead and order. Instead of buying a carton yesterday I only bought 3 packs in hopes I can get this thing going and quit!

Wade!

Sorry for the long wait on a reply, it happens if you post in sticky threads. :)

1. If they aren't showing the black as an available choice it probably means they are sold out. The platinum battery is a more matte finish, painted unlike the chrome or silver which is metal shiny. I would bet if you see one you prefer in the case choices you can request it in your comments section and they will try and help you out.

2. The xl case is on it's way but not available just yet, they posted pictures today so it should be soon!

3. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vapor4life/58027-vaporking-user-guide.html lists the exact measurements for battery size. I'm an xl fan myself. I am at my computer most of the day so I just charge my xl at night and use my PT a fair amount. I don't really even need a second battery with my style of vaping though it is recommended to have a back up.

4. 18mg is a nice starting strength, there are several sampler packs available and I'd highly recommend you start with one of those. Realize you will need to order more cartomizers and juices (if you plan on refilling) shortly but start off small so you can figure out what works for you.

I love the Doc Pepper juice though I hate the drink, to me it's slightly rootbeer barrel taste. It's an individual taste thing. I hate tobacco flavors but other people love them.

Happy Vaping Wade and welcome to the family! Keep us updated on how it's going for you!

Thanks for the reply Taryn!

I was bummed I couldn't start a thread....but I probably shoulda put this someplace other than a sticky....ah well!

I've just about finalized my order....I think I am going to stick with regular and not the XL. Like you say I will prob use the pass through a lot at home. I spend a lot of time in front of this PC. The longer XL might be a little obtrusive at first when I'm out and about.

I wish there were more sampler packs available. I'm prob going to get the Berry one. I'm not sure I would like the Coffees (even though I DO like my coffee!) and I hear that a lot of folks end up not caring for the tobaccos. They should throw together at least 2 more samplers. One with various NON menthol tobaccos and one with the top 5 sellers. I think a top 5 seller sampler would be a GREAT idea for newbs.

I do plan on refilling and getting Juices, but first I have to find what works for me. I can see I'm not going to save much for the first month.

I will definitely be around here quite a bit....do you know how long before I can start a thread?? The system wouldn't even let me upload an avatar...GRRRR!!

Later!
Wade

ps. This forum is very restrictive for us newbies. I quoted your message to reply to and got a warning that I couldn't post links yet....because of the link in YOUR post!

Hey wade!

At fifteen posts you will be able to do all those fun things, most people get creative and just toss in a comment on other posts until they get there. There are even some silly threads practically dedicated to making that 15 post. Take a look below I'm going to start one just for you to introduce you to the gang, keep saying hey back and you should hit your limit in no time!

Edit: Here is your own thread wade! http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/vapor4life/69430-my-newest-little-buddy.html
